Sleep can be made nearly impossible under the right conditions. Have you ever gone through acute withdrawal from short-acting opiates? During days 5-9 of heroin withdrawal, I average about 45 minutes a night, and I feel wired. Why does this happen?

The only thing I can think of that would keep you wired is maybe the brain is sensing that the neurotransmitters aren't being stimulated to be released and the brain is overcompensating by releasing more and making more? But if it's short-acting opiate, you figure you would see that in the first day or two when you're off.

I talked to my professor at school about the Wellbutrin/Vyvanse combo and this is what he said:

Taylor:

You would likely see some synergy but not additive purely on a receptor mediated basis. However, the clinical spectrum of activity is less for bupropion than the stimulants. This is probably an affinity difference between brain regions. :)

So maybe they work in different regions of the brain? It would make sense that there's no additive effect. You would see more neurotransmitter release from the synapse, but you only have so many dopamine and NE receptors to bind those transmitters. Maybe my brain doesn't have as many receptors as normal (downregulation of receptors)? That sucks.

I was taking Tussionex (hydrocodone polistirex) for 2 months straight for bronchitis. When I take hydrocodone, I feel like I can do anything. It's a pretty sweet high. I got so much done and was in a great mood. Never made me tired. But coming off that stuff was a bitch! I was so pissy - I knew it was withdrawal. I should have never taken it that long. I didn't think it would be a big deal since I never exceeded the dose and I was only on it for 2 months, but that just goes to show that this stuff is crazy addicting.

I just wish I could stay awake! I'm trying to push my Wellbutrin to later in the afternoon to hopefully get a little more alertness and wakefulness. We'll see how it goes. I stopped taking it for about 4 days to see if maybe there's some competition between it and the Vyvanse and I felt so tired and run down, like someone hit me with their car.
