Hi everyone, I know this has probably been asked before, and I tried searching but it turned up about 30000 posts.

Anyways, I was just curious as to what the difference is between snorting Oxycontin versus eating it. Such as duration, effects , which one you prefer. I have an 80mg for tomorrow, but I've only snorted OC before, and was curious if you lose a lot of potency if you eat it. I'm looking to make the most out of it.

Thankyou so much and I really look forward to hearing your responses and which one you prefer and what is the difference.

alot of people are eating enthusiasts on this board. they say its alot better if you parachute it. i think it has a higher availability. i usually parachute if i have some shitty generic like those tevas or impax. but besides that i snort it. i think its alot better when it hits you all at once. the drip is amazing. i love everything about blowin ocs. dont bother chewing it or anything; that never works out good. swallowing it whole is just retarded. it desperses like 5mgs/hr for 12hrs.

i think if you want it to last a bit longer chute it and if your looking for the rush and a more intense short lived high snort it.

if you eat it, powder it well as if you were snorting it. (Just in case you didnt know about getting rid of the time release)

i prefer it orally. it lasts longer, i'm more into the nod than the rush

A fan of snorting here myself. Too impatient to wait for it to be digested :).

Snorting some and parachuting the rest is a good solution if you want to meet half way.

This questions has been covered so many times on BL. I prefer a mix of both snorting and eating as long as they aren't teva brand OCs, in which case I would just eat them. I think snorting has the advantage of a quick onset, higher peak plasma concentrations, but a decrease in the duration of effects.

That source for claiming oxycodone's bio-availability of 47% is just points to 1 study with only 10 volunteers with a very brief writeup. It hasn't been definitively proven that oxycodone has a higher oral bio-availability compared to intranasal administration. A few people on the net are saying this, but more testing needs to be done before there's a verdict. I want to know if the few studies claiming oral OC had a higher bio-availability were accounting for the drip (all of what your snort that doesn't get absorbed by your mucus membranes should end up down the back of your throat and in your stomach, especially if you irrigate (flush) your nose with water or saline. A lot of BLers swear by oral administration and will preach that it's better. Personally as I said I like both. Snorting provides an instant wave of euphoria, oral gives a long lasting high.

I thought I'd refresh this post rather than making a new one, although my main question isn't to do with the debate.

I snorted about 10mg of oxycontin a few hours ago, the first time I've used the drug. Tonight I plan to crush and mix 20mg up with warm water and swallow it at 9.30pm. That'll be 5 hours after snorting. How severely is potency reduced by using more than once in a day? It's not a habit I intend to repeat, I just want to know for tonights sake. I did read that in the case of codeine, leaving it 5-6 hours is the very minimum, does oxy have a minimum?

Concerning this post, I wish someone could produce some more conclusive figures about intranasal bioavailability. The predicted range right now is a bit of a joke. Surely if I snort some tonight to bring on the high faster, I'll have to wash the waxy coating off, dry the pill, then put it in the pill crusher. Surely a little bit of the drug must be lost this way?

Actually a portion of the pill when swallowed is released all at once , then the other half is spread out over the x and x period .. fyi.

And this information IS readily available just like the other 5 million posts on this board . with snorting your going to get a full high in about 5 minutes but it will only last about 2-3 hours , your going to lose 17 percent or so , depending on if you flush your sinus' , eating it is another method , while youll get a little bit more , it wont be much , but the high is a little bit more full body for me anyway ..

Believe it or not THERE isnt much difference between snorting and eating it , people just like to beat the shit out of a dead horse on this board..

Dancan: I just copied your post and put my answers within in bold.

Not much, if at all. Redosing is fine with oxycodone. It's not a habit I intend to repeat, I just want to know for tonights sake. I did read that in the case of codeine, leaving it 5-6 hours is the very minimum, does oxy have a minimum? No. Codeine does because it has to be metabolised to work; its a prodrug. Oxycodone is not a prodrug, and doesn't have this limit.

Concerning this post, I wish someone could produce some more conclusive figures about intranasal bioavailability. Purdue won't because their drug isn't intended to be used this way. And nobody else will either. I still believe that oral bioavailability is higher - at least the AUC values are different. It takes a little longer to come on but it last significantly longer (in my experience). The predicted range right now is a bit of a joke. Surely if I snort some tonight to bring on the high faster, I'll have to wash the waxy coating off, dry the pill, then put it in the pill crusher. Surely a little bit of the drug must be lost this way? No, its just a colored coating to identify the strength of the pill; it doesn't contain any of the drug. All you have to do is get it a little wet and wipe the coating off with a towel or napkin or whatever.

i know this is off topic..but does anyone know if codeine contin....or controlled realease codeine is available for script in the us?

^ It most likely is, but it probably doesnt get prescribed very much. Controlled release codeine? I mean, that says it all right there. How effective could it really be? Id rather have IR codeine over XR any day.

To continue the derailment of this old thread..
Yeah, XR codeine is an insanely bad idea since it's already a pro-drug. Who wants to take something that takes several hours to work?

thanks johanneschimpo, that completely answered my questions. I'm going to play around with doses with the intention of not snorting at all in the future.
