So I got a new pipe for my birthday from my now ex-girlfriend. It's a mid-size hammer style bubbler and I must say I love it. It's a pretty big improvement over my previous smoking mainstay, which was a 4-5 inch chillum that could have doubled as a slide. Smoking from the bubb is a lot smoother and pleasant as one would expect, but there's a drawback that I didn't have with my chillum. Getting every bit of resin out of the chillum was easy and took less that five minutes. Comparatively, the bubbler is like a fucking maze and its nearly impossible to reach all the various nooks and crannies. Being economical as I am, the scraping and smoking of resin is a weekly occurence as payday nears and I'm out of weed.

But anywho, I was desperate so I figured I could use alcohol to loosen up the resin inside, which it did. I poured some 70% isopropyl alcohol into the pipe, covered the rush and mouthpiece, shook vigorously and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. I poured the alcohol onto a plate to let it evaporate. Within 3 hours or so 90% of the moisture was gone and I was left with a semi-moist ball of resin. I let this further dry and I was left with a completely dry end product. I was pumped that it worked so well, and considering all of the "work" I put into it, I was even more excited. But, when I smoked it (took fairly big rips) I only got slight effects, and this was a ball maybe 1.5 times the size of a marble mind you. My question is, could the alcohol have washed away some of the THC and other active chemicals, and if so where did they go? Thanks!

check out our cannabis discussion directory. It is stickied at the top of the forum page. lots of stuff in there..

alcohol is used in many methods of hash making..I doesn't destroy the resin. It only breaks it down so that it can be separated from the plant matter...after the alcohol evaporates, the resin is left.
