Smoking Pot and being Successful.

ars0n said:
ok so ive been smoking pretty much regulary for about 4 years. Regulary I mean mostly weekly. There was a time where I smoked pretty much every single day...Since starting college, I have forced myself to seriously cut back. After all I have heard after 4+ years of habitual use, permanent effects can emerge. So in order to save my memory for important things, like school work, I tried stopping during the summer for as long as possible...I went about 3 weeks... I told myself I wasnt going to smoke for all of my 1st Semester..of course that did not work out :( ... Now I have been smoking every weekend, only one time though, at night. My question is do you guys think this kind of use will be effecting my memory?...Of course it cant be helping it, but I am at a dilema.

There is a 40+ year old adult in my life who is a multi millioniare and has smoked pot all his life. He is a legitimate success...and he still smokes, but i wouldnt say he is addicted. he dosnt think about it often, and he dosnt make it a special point to SMOKE...sometimes he just does, and he might take 1 hit, and move on and totally forget about the bowl....

I know it would be beneficial to quit smoking completley....but I look at someone like the guy I mentioned and its just like oh well look at him, he did it......i can do it...... i have big goals in life, and one of them is to be extremley wealthy, and now i am second guessing whether or not smoking is harmless or not in college.

thanks for any input

ps
i used to experiement with all types of drugs in high school, i am completley clean with everything now except occasional social drinking and obviously the occasional toke

What was your question? I was too busy pissing in all of my 5 bathrooms.%)

I have been smoking every day for almost 7 years now. I am approaching 22 and am still in college. However, I still consider myself successful. I do very well in school, work fulltime as a licensed insurance agent, and have had many side jobs/projects to throw on my future resume. I already have my foot in the door at some major corporations for IT related jobs. The only major thing that marijuana seems to do to me, is affect my motivation. I am definately a lazy bastard, but I still get shit done, it just might be procrastinated a bit.

My girlfriend is a heavy, everyday smoker as well. She is currently going for her Master's degree at an ivy league school for Microbiology and Immunology. She works at Yale doing heart transplant research. She experiences no damage to her mental functions at work or school. Her work is extremely intense and requires an amazing memory and attention span.

Hi,

I was searching Google and it came up with this site, which besides erowid.org seems as a very informative site on drugs.

Well going back to your original question, yes it is totally possible being successful when smoking weed. Its all a question of what mindset you put yourself into, I think someone else mentioned the same thing.

For example, I am 20 now and I have been smoking weed since I was 12 so around 8 years of sold smoking weed, in the initial years until about 15 it was a weekly thing, since about 15 I have been smoking allmost everyday, but I have restricted myself to smoke when I know I dont have to drive anywhere for atleast 10 hours (currently I live in Germany, and laws on Marijuana are extremely tough). I also restrict my consumption to the evenings when I can be sure noone is going to call me at 10pm for any business emergencies.

If you want an example of the success I have had sofar in life, I moved out of home when I was 15 and since then have been travelling to all corners of the world and most of them for business, I started studying in India, but terminated by studies after a year - I got extremely bored (IT).

Since I have been called to various sites around the globe to architecture and design industry specific / Content management systems. Such as financial companies in south america, and about July last year I was asked to move to Germany for a rapidly exapnding sportswear manufacturer. They waited over 1 year for me to come and take the position of Head of IT and Marketing - allthough Germany has 10% unemployment.

So success is totally possible. But I find it requires you to completely focus on your goals and to prepare yourself for personal torture. I wanted to be the 'best' from the start and aimed to be the best - now I speak 5 languages, program in 4 and have seen over 30 countries. Yet I am only 20.

The only thing you will have to put up with is people are going to be extremly envious of how you manage to manage your life while stoned and being succesful, I have no PA. to make my appointments, its all in the mindset of how far you are willing to plan ahead, how many weeks before an accident can you be prepared for the accident - a trick I learned from a very good friend whom lives in London.

Another tip from me is to pursue something that is spirutally benficial to you, I personally was introduced to Kabbalah - no religion, I am an athiest -while high its an excellent way to prepare yourself for anything that comes your way!

And last but not least - if you fuck up, doesnt matter how big - allways own up to your fuck ups not trying to beat around the bush. This will give honor and pride, which in business these days is rare to find - never fuck over your customers - if the goods are still being manufactured in asia cause I made the order to late and the client needs them, then I own up to it.

Respect builds honor, and to understand that very early in life was the greatest gift I have ever had from anyone. (Off course success can be a downfall in your social and family life - I have not spoken with my mom in 14 years and my father wont speak to me since about a year ago, cause I decided to base all my actions around my early success.)

I hope this helps, I understand its a bit of a late reply but it seemed a good topic to start with.

Greetings!

IMO you need to just think about it as "just weed". marijuana is a lot about the mind and mental states, once you can control the thought of smoking and turn the "need" to want - everything will be clearer.

just hold yourself, and tell yourself loudly and believe in it that you CAN control it.

another way to contro your smoking is to simply cut down ALL your sources to marijuana.. after a while you wount be smoking (MORE than 3 weeks, which is something - but i guess not enough for you) - you'll simply loss the "craving".
a month plus is usually the time it takes to loss the craving..

good luck, im sure you'll be turn up very well in your life;)

smoking bud doesnt make you successful or unsuccessful, your choices and personal opionon of success do
