Bupe Smoking patches

In the interests of harm reduction I don't want to smoke plastic, obviously, but when I heat the plastic looking matrix that holds the bupe in the patch then I see that smoke is more plastic than anything and think, nah.

How would I separate out the bupe from the vinyl matrix it sits on?
