Yeowch.

Rest. Rest. Rest. Alternate hot and cold packs in 20 minute intervals.
I have very bad arthritis in my spine and I started off with opiates, but quickly got off them. Back pain is manageable without these drugs.

I use an OTC cream that has ibruprofin in it, I buy some generic brand, and I'm having trouble remembering what the brand name is - maybe aspercreme or something like that? Works pretty kinda decent at eliminating a bit of the pain.

Tiger Balm rocks. Keep on with that.

I take tons of baths in eucalyptus and tea tree oil. Breathing the vapours relaxes you, and soaking in it can help relax your muscles.

I went to an all natural doctor and he had given me a spray, it was something called like "ice" or something along those lines, anyway, I wish I hadn't moved from that doctor because that stuff kicks ass. Spray a little of that stuff on your back and that was numb for an hour. If you can find anything like this, go for it.

Try those icy/hot back patches.

Good for you for not seeking drugs for this. ^5

Definite rest - you can also try epsom salts in a bath for the relief of inflammation.

Is going to a physiotherapist off the cards for you? can you go to a GP to see if they can refer you to someone?

If you take ibuprofen - make sure you don't take more than the recommended dosage, and make sure you eat with it, or at the very least, drink a big glass of milk - it will help to protect your stomach.

All the best <3

What part of your "assback" is hurting? The first thing to do is to find out if it's muscle or bone that was injured. If any of your vertebre you're assed out. The only way to fix it is get them fused or ride the pain out. However, if it's primarily muscle groups that are injured NSAID work well when paired with muscle relaxer like flexoril or methocarbomol. If you have numbness and tingeling in your leg you need to worry about a herniated disc. Find out what type you have by pressing along your spine. If if hurts and doesn't radiate it's prolly orthopedic. If you have limited range of motion and pain throughout your back it's most likely muscular. numbness, and incontenince is a disc problem. When in doubt talk to a provider.
