TOO MANY HOES IN MY MOTHAFUCKING MEAL
hi everyone.
just a brief background: my use of drugs is lmitated to weed, (rarely) benzos, DXM once every 1/2 months and alcohol (also rarely). Also I have a light form of visual snow (google it)

so recently I noticed that something in my sight has changed
after I keep my eyes shut in the dark and then opening them I'll see sometimes white vertical lines moving really fast in a orizontal fashion, I cannot really explain it it's like being flashed with very fast light impulses and it lasts a few seconds (this is very noticeable so it's not "placebo")
also when I stare at something I'll see (this doesn't occur really often) dots moving in my peripheral vision or, if I look at sofisticated patterns/textures somethimes I'll notice something is not normal, e.g. a few days ago I was watching a squared piece of paper and was seeing that the vertical lines of the squares were moving.

all these symptoms do not occur really often and are not THAT noticeable (they do not bother me at all, well I have to say sometimes they are quite pretty to watch), also I've never used any really "visual" drug, aside from benzydamine which effects are mostly visual and causes really cool lights distortion (and stays in your system even for months so that could be it) and DXM on which I sometimes see the walls or the floor "breathing" if I concentrate and stare enough.
also I have visual snow but I don't think the symptoms I mentioned match

I know you can't really help me with such a brief explanation but it's really hard to explain some of the symptoms as they are so subtle sometimes that I question if maybe I was making them up
any thoughts?

Hey ComfortablyNumb,

Are your symptoms more or less noticeable when you're tired? Is there a point where you can tell that the visual disturbances started?

DXM can and does cause HPPD in some people, in fact any drug with hallucinogenic properties can trigger it. HPPD is still relatively unstudied so the symptoms can vary quite a bit.

Okay so I used wiki for you if you want to take a glance of treatments, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_snow#Treatments

I used to have what you are speaking about. When I used to use psychedelics and heavy narcotics.(no IV strictly oral use of my pills).

I would lay down in my bed with my eyes closed and just watch picture(images) being put together, it didn't bother me I actually enjoyed watching it until I fell asleep. I only had these symptoms at night times when falling asleep or even walking to the bathroom in the darkness.

I wouldn't worry to much, only if it's strongly affecting your daily life from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep and stopping you from doing your daily tasks. I read that it can really fuck with people if you have severer symptoms. So if you don't think you can wait it out until your symptoms subside or if they are really bothering you to the point that you can't take it anymore, then I suggest you see a doctor and read the treatments in the website I provided.

For me I just gave it time a few months and I'm doing well. But everyone is different so what I was experiencing may not be what it's like for you.

Best of luck.

The treatment for HPPD is slightly different. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallucinogen_persisting_perception_disorder#Treatment

Antipsychotics and benzos will cause more problems than they'll alleviate. I would not recommend their usage with HPPD unless it's such a severe case that you cannot function in your day to day activities with it.

BRoI --> that's what I meant by treatment if it was unbearable symptoms, then maybe those treatments may take away some stress.

It's all good, I just wanted to point out that HPPD and Visual Snow have different 'treatments'. It'd be almost impossible to tell which you have unless you go see a doctor who is knowledgeable about HPPD and get diagnosed CN.

Defiantly seeing a knowledgeable doctor is best about this situation.

Only if it is crippling your daily life id defiantly see a doctor who specializes in this field of practice.

HPPD doesn't go away really. Once you have it you have it. Don't worry though you will get used to it, to the point where you don't even notice it unless you try to. Don't waste a ton of money trying to find a cure there isn't one.

It will take time for what you are writing about to go away. Stop using everything, including alcohol, marijuana or hashish for a year, or at least half a year.
