Sleep paralysis after rolling?

Have any of you experienced sleep paralysis after rolling? I already get sleep paralysis as it is (though not nearly as often now as I did when I was younger), and for some reason, lots of the time, after I roll, I'll get it. Sometimes 2 or 3 nights in a row. Same with my sister, and I've seen others mention it in posts in the past. My brother, who had never experienced sleep paralysis ever before, described what sounded like SP, one time after rolling as well. I don't get it every single time I do MDMA, but often.

It interests me a lot... I've been experiencing SP since I was 7, and it's terrifying, but I'm fascinated by it at the same time. Is there an explanation, or a known link between MDMA and sleep paralysis? Any theories? I know that basically, it's kind of like the opposite of sleep walking. You're body paralyzes itself during REM sleep to prevent you from acting out your dreams, and SP happens when you start to wake up, but your body is still paralyzed in REM state, so it's kind of like being inbetween a wake and dream state, which is probably why usually SP and hypnogogic hallucinations occur together... but what is it about MDMA that has a tendency, in some people, to cause SP right after rolling? Even in people who have never previously experienced it. I can't figure it out... any thoughts?

After rolling I can usually k.o and get some of the best sleep possible, never really experienced sleep paralysis after rolling. I usually experience this after a day of using benzos(specifically xanax). Like you, I've always been the type to get sleep paralysis quite often. Maybe it's because mdxx(or xanax) drains your body of so much energy that your body falls asleep, while your brain is still active? Just a guess.

YES

Only when I really overdo it....

If I take a good break and then go on a small 3/4 gram binge at a 4 day festival, I only get dizzies and very mild sleeping disorders.
If I roll once a month/every 2 weeks and THEN do a minor festival binge, I get the Sleep Paralysis you describe.
I haven't had it in years, it is a really strange feeling. I had it hardcore when I was addicted to opiates AND rolling a lot.
NEVER had it before the drugs.....

Do a search, you should find someone with the screen name First Bad Comedown who will have a lot to say on WHY it happens.

Just going to copy and paste something I posted in an old sleep paralysis thread because I think it's relevant.

"I had the most horrific sleep paralysis experience a couple of years, not related to MDMA (Probably sleep deprivation) but I seriously think there are parts of that experience that I've fully repressed. Only reason why I think this is because the moment I think about what happened, not even in a negative way, just saying/thinking about what happened my eyes instantly start to water. Not your standard eyes watering either, pretty much tears streaming down my face (as is happening now). One thing it's actually made me thankful for is that when I get sleep paralysis now (probably once every 3/4 months) It's a walk over. I pretty much just force my eyes shut, ignore the fact that I'm totally paralysed and laugh it off. That big scary thing kneeling accross my shins pushing it's arms into my chest just ends up turning into some weird lucid paralysis where it feels like I'm getting with a hot friend. The plus is that it feels so real. Then I wake up in a cold sweat, turn my laptop on for half hour and then get back to sleep.

The first experience was the most horrific experience of my life"

"Oh, just remembered something I read on sleep paralysis that sounds like it might help a lot of people in the thread. When it happens you can normally think clearly which is part of the reason why it's so scary. If you just hold your breath it forces you to wake up."

Serotonin regulates sleep, so depleted serotonin can cause sleep paralysis. Doctors sometimes prescribe SSRIs for sleep paralysis.

Got a mate who's been overdoing it with the drone and the MD and he'd been having a lot of sleep paralysis. I've only had it a couple of times (not related to MDMA), shit's horrible.
