Its after 3am here. I am tired but not sleepy, I think my bio-clock has switched, somewhat.
Reason for posting here is medication induced sleep deprivation. I know this combo is risky.
I consider myself a cautious risktaker (oxymoron) I guess. I sometimes take unsafe drug combos, but dont just jump in head first, more like stick my foot in to check temp first.
To the point. I was taking Tramadol today, started at 6am, with Klonopin, spaced out until about 9pm I had taken 350 mgs Tramadol and 6 mgs K-pins. I became tired, started to get nods, but needed to get some work done, So Since 9pm I have taken 40 mgs ritalin, spaced out in two seperate doses. I am awake, but could sleep but I dont want it to ruin my day. I am hydrated, have eaten, multivitamin as well.
I have full scripts for 2mg K-pins, 2mgs xanax bars and 50mgs Tramadol.....no more Ritalin. Since I never really crashed from it, just a slow comedown, prolly due to tramadol still in my system.
Would it be beneficial to take a power nap? or would that just lead to waking up at 5pm this evening, Lol?
Or should I just go for a walk, drink some coffee and stay up.
I am not that experinced at drug induced all-nighters, so Im looking for best course of action to stay awake until my normal bedtime tonight at 8-9pm.

Any advice? Besides not to take this combo. I can re-dose Tramadol, but not for a while, if i do anytime soon it will lead to nods then bed, same with benzos.
Part of me says just give up and sleep, but the other part "my evil alter ego" tells me to ride out the morning on eggs and coffee then i can start getting energy from tramadol again around lunch.
Anyone with experince pulling all nighters and staying awake next day?

Ok, still awake. Side note/Trip report: I seem to be feeling better as the ritalin wears off, thats not a fun combo. Nothing terrible, they both lessened the effects of each other causing a mild dsyphoria, will not be taking this combo again.
It's almost funny, because ritalin usually causes unpleasnt comedowns to say the least, I am getting the opposite, feeling better the more it wears off.

I will always advise sleep unless your work is really that important that it's mandatory to get done "right now".

Try to use something milder than benzos to put yourself to bed.

Ex:
L-tryptophan
Melatonin
Diphenhydramine

Its the tramadol keeping you up for sure. It has a long acting stimulating effect and usually forces me into all nighters. Don't re-dose if you want to sleep. I have stayed up for almost 3 days. I would say try to sleep bc if you stay up all night/day it'll feel like a foggy hangover without the nausea. My vote is set an alarm for a power nap :)

I think If I layed down in bed I would fall asleep without anything. I just wanted to not waste the day. As far as the health goes, your advising is best choice.

For me - I don't agree with the L-tryp, melatonin and diphinhydramine. The diph makes me so dry - mouth, nose, eyes - everything. The L-tryp and mellie really does nothing. I really need benzo's to sleep. If I run out of them I am in real trouble because I get the kicks at night. Sometimes they are very violent and I jump myself awake so hard that sometimes I jerk my neck and hurt it or I bite down on my teeth real hard. I don't want to break me teeth. I suppose though that depending upon your age - the milder OTC meds may be OK - but they just don't work for me. One thing that struck me here is the mixture of benzo's and ritalin. That seems like a bad combo to me. One is an upper and one a downer. What happens to me at night is I take xanax at around 11:00-ish. I fall asleep for a few hours and then wake up. The key here is that I am not nervous and I can stand laying in bed at night as long as I am not nervous. So I usually watch TV and fall back to sleep in a couple hours. Sleep is a difficult thing for me. It wasn't when I was younger. I could sleep anywhere anytime. But now things are different. This week has been great for sleeping for me. I have slept for about 6-7 night from about 11:00 to 3:00 or 4:00 and sometimes 6:00. I wake up very quickly though usually in pain.

What you just explained to me is benzo dependence, which is the exact reason I don't recommend it for sleep. Perhaps try a longer lasting benzo like clonazepam rather than xanax as a sleep aid if you have to.

yeah, I took a three hour power nap and felt refreshed, although ill be sleeping like a baby tonight. i'm still a little foggy and irratable, but much better than I would have been without the nap. I Use benzos everyday, have for 15 years. Klonopin 4mgs xanax 2mgs and will for the rest of my life, due to GAD, social anxiety. But I dont use or need them for sleep.
