Sleep Help...

Let's see how another 50mg of 5HTP and 3mg of melatonin do tonight.....tonight is probably the 5th or 6th night in the last 4 years or so that I haven't eaten Dipe.

You can give Triazolam (Halcion) a try, it has the second shortest half-life of all the benzodiazepines, even the non-benzodiazepines. VERY short acting. Like 2 hours. Your only other options I'm aware of are the Z-Drugs like Sonata and Ambien (2-3 hour half-life).

sonata damnn i haven't had that shit in years...literally i remember finding a bottle of this shit in my grandparents house like 7-8 years back....do they even still prescribe these?

but temazepam/lyrica both don't interrupt REM sleep...and i use both weekly lmao, they are some good shit man...definitely better than ambien, and im talking about recreational and therapeutic purposes imo

Just got 50x halcion @ 0.125mg and 50x valium =\ getting too old for this shit :(

This lid looks suspicious haha 02062011069.jpg

I actually some how got away with taking 5HTP and melatonin last night...but I'm off from work today and I'm awake way to early...

took like 30 mins to finally fall asleep, slept for about 8 hours...

I've been taking 50-100 mg of diphenhydramine for sleep, but it's become bothersome. First off, it takes like 2 hours before I'm actually tired enough to fall asleep, and then there's the bitch of a cotton-mouth that I end up with for a good chunk of the day. Think I'm gonna try to get something prescribed, although I'd prefer to avoid Ambien....I've been down that road before, and I didn't like it.

I didn't take the DPH last night and tried Remeron 30mg. I still woke up like 6 times in the middle of the night but it was easier to get back to sleep. I felt drowsy this morning. I don't know if I'm going to take it again tonight. Still trying to make a decision. I won't my tolerance to DPH to decrease. Here's hoping for some benzos!

I have work tomorrow and can't be playing any games tonight....125mg of dph down the hatch.

lol..nope the sleep game...taking one night off from DPH actually helped a tiny bit...tolerance wise..

temazepam for the win!! but when i don't have any (left) an extra dose of lyrica keeps me warm and cozy at night :)

Ok, so I got prescribed mirtazapine...it sucks because DPH makes me a lot more tired and doesn't make me eat everything I see thats edible.

antipychotics are the stongest sleeping pills & they are ok to use long term. seroquel or zyprexa may be useful
if your not sure weather u may loike antipychotics. try the sedating antihistamine phenergan (promethazine) otc its similar to dph. promthazine used to be precription as an antipychotic & surprized its otc because it's really strong.

ambian is just to weird. the most comfertable natural sleeping aid is the benzo temazepam. but ofcourse u'll get a tolerance after a while but u dont with antipychotics. some ppl have to take em there whole lives.

So id reccomend looking into seroquel the antipychotic. u dotn have to take the amounts they precribe for skitzophreina or bipolar. only a smaller dose should do the trick for insomnia. seroquel & zyprexa are actually an antihistamines to so they could be usefull for allergies/ashtma.

the other option is the antidepressant remeron or advanza as they call it in australia which contained mirtazepine. its sedating because it also is an antihistamine. u will have no trouble getting this medication & it may help with depression too.

edit: oh ^^ i didnt realize ud started taking them. gl with mirtazepine i usd to take the ones that dissolve in ya mouth they actually taste nice. they are also meant to be more successful for treating depression than SSRI/SNRIs according to wikipedia.
so I think uve made a good choice. if your not happy with mirtazepine just up to the antipychotics. mainly seroquel is precribed for insomna but it doesnt help with depression.
try promethazine first which is quite sedating & u dont need a script to get a feel for antipychotics. its surprizing they sell this stuff cuz its not much weaker than seroquel

the sedating effect of mirtazepine works straight away but may take a few weeks for the antidepressive effects start to kick in. good luck

be careful with the 5HTP, I found it really useful fro both depresion and sleep for a couple of weeks and the the AD Effect disapeared and it gave me the wierdest dreams ...and I do mean wierd and nasty.

A few people have said you should take 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off from it, not sure if that would work I just stopped taking as had moved onto other meds.

When I came off Zolpidem I used Valrian root tablets, not sure how much was placebo and how much they helped but I believ they are at least pretty harmless.

Kust started back on Zopliclone

Mirtazapine gives me the weirdest dreams EVER!!!?

I'm starting not to like it...and I only take 15mg a night...

Just took 100mg of diphenhydramine...yummy.

^^thats why i stoped mirtazepine. try the otc sedating histamine Phenergan (promethazine)
it'll be better than dph & wont have a bad hangover; give u a feel for anti-pychotics.
if its not strong enough which it probably will be than go get presribed seroquel which is ok to take for as long as u like u may only need 50mg to go to sleep others may need 400mg.
im not sure about the safety of using dph every night thats what im worried about

antipychotics are the stongest sleeping pills & they are ok to use long term.

While quetiapine (Seroquel) appears to have fewer side effects than other antipsychtics, olanzapine (Zrprexa) is not something you want to take long term unless you need to.

Broadly speaking, the older "typical" antipsychotics have mood-disorder side effects - starting with the risk of acute dystonia, akathisia (extremely uncomfortable restlessness) and tremor, and building up to a Parkinsonian-like syndrome and tardive dyskinesia (uncontrolled movements such as chewing and grimacing; an irreversible side effect). The newer "atypical" ones such as olanzapine and risperidone have much fewer movement side effects (although you can still get them) but they can increase your weight and cardiovascular risk in the long term - I can't find the data, but mortality for those taking atypical antipsytchotics in the long term is considerably higher than for those who are not, mostly down to the increased cardiovascular risk.

They might be okay short term and at low doses, but I would never recommend taking an antipsychotic long term unless the benefits (eg no psychosis) outweigh the risks...

edit: it sounds a bit wishy-washy but I find when I sleep in an uncluttered room used only for sleep, after exercising and meditating regularly, and a cup of something warm and soothing and ideally containing valerian, I sleep a lot better. Right now my room is a state and I am doing none of my suggestions, which might explain being up at 5am.
