Sleep "agents" that put your ass out QUICK with no lingering drowsiness upon waking?

Man I been going through some shit lately with insomnia unlike anything I've experienced before. Usually I just use weed or a high dose of melatonin or a high dose of benzos or diphenhydramine... you get the picture.

The problem is they don't work for one reason or another, for my purposes. That includes liquor and opiates.

I need some shit that will work in 15 minutes and lights out. I've asked some other people and suggestions I got were GHB and Trazadone. I would appreciate any suggestions, including feedback about the ones I just mentioned if you have experience with them. Please help -- I'm getting desperate. Oh, nothing that "fucks" with your brain or builds up in your body on a long term basis. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Propofol would work. It isn't the easiest drug to aquire though. It does cause some dizzyness upon awakening though but it quickly dissipates. I don't think it's great for a long term solution though, probably not even short-term.

Personally I put myself to sleep by taking a high dose of magnesium + smoking weed and sometimes adding antihistamines before bed. It works for me.

IM Lorazepam 4mg.

P.S. There is no substance (including water) that can be consumed without A.) Making changes in the brain and B.) Building up over time.

If its something that will keep you asleep for a whole night, then you are going to feel it when you wake up. If you just need to fall asleep, then a short acting sleep aid works. But if you wake up in a couple hours you might not be able to fall back to sleep.

GHB is the only wonder drug like this. It causes dopamine to be stored then released upon waking so you feel refreshed every time. It can also be used long-term because it naturally occurs in your own body.

Also, lulz, it's you again.

No, not really. It can't be used long-term because you become habituated to it and then dependent upon the chemical to function normally. Just because the body produces it doesn't mean that you won't suffer from any problems if you attempt to supplement the amount your body produces over a long period of time. The body produces it's own form of morphine too. But only at appropriate times, and not otherwise. Endorphins occur in your own body, but that doesn't mean that opiates don't cause dependence and long-term problems when trying to stop using them.

I would only use GHB sporadically, once or twice a month. It's basically useless for a long-term non-dependence-causing sleep aid. It's great when used rarely, but if used all the time it will lose it's magic and you will find it impossible to function without it. It's no different to benzos, barbs, and other GABAergics.

You could also try a guided sleep meditation on Youtube, I swear it works. just do what they tell you to do, and try to get one thats over 30 minutes long. Its not your body that wont let you fall asleep, its your mind racing, try slowing it down with a guided meditation.

Ambien works quite well (for me). It's not a controlled substance and I haven't had any trouble getting Ambien prescribed when I've needed it.

Zolpidem is not a controlled substance in the sense that pharmacies will not force you to wait 28 days to refill it. Maybe my terminology is wrong.

I would choose Midazolam (Dormicum) or Temazepam with some good Indica Cannabis personally. We have here (the Netherlands) something OTC called Valdispert which is a series of products containing Valerian Root with added Melatonin or other herbal remedies, I would recommend searching for something similar myself. :)

Okay the suggestions in this thread are rediculous. Don't take Propofol - that's just stupid.

In actuality - that's a pretty rare drug your asking for. All of the antihistamines/anticholinergics/antimonoaminergics cause intense, and severe drowsiness the next day. Yeah you fall asleep on things like Trazodone or Doxepin - but their effects are not unlike a blow to the head. Sure you pass out - but it's not worth it.

A great drug for getting you to sleep is Ambien. It works good, it works fast, and there is no residual sleepiness the next day (if you're a male that is).

^yea it was a ridiculous suggestion.

To be honest, the best sleep-aids ever are synthetic cannabinoids in my oppinion. Find a full agonist with prominent sedating effects (like JWH-018) and it will ALWAYS knock you straight out unless you smoke it during the days all the time also. This is probably the easiest solution to your problem without resorting to addicting meds.

it depends on what type of sleep issue an individual is having that may give your doctor a better idea of what to prescribe.. Im the type of person who can fall asleep, but i wake up several times at night, so a sleep aide with a longer half life is probably better for me: it can range from trazadone (and yes u will feel hungover and super tired!) while a doctor can RX you "Restoril" AKA Temazepam, i benzodiazepine RXed for sleep, it does have a bit of a half life like trazadone but the hangover may not be bad as trazadone, or you may feel "good" the next morning and feel an afterglow. if you have trouble just falling asleep, Ambien may be beneficial as it has a short half life AND is a sedative/hypnotic, or a small dose of xanax 0.5mg...there are MANY different types of sleep aids, most doctors avoid the addictive stuff...ambien is written alot i have experienced..a few times i was given Temazepam by a Psychiatrist which worked well...hell even CLONIDINE 0.1mg knocks me out with no hang over...sorry for the typos shitty computer

i get what u mean, but in NYS where i live, pharmacists treat ambien as a controlled substANCE as much as any other Schedule IV, as ambien is a schedule IV, like xanax, klonopin, valium, etc..im RXed ambien, and the pharmacists dont give me leniency..walgreens gives you a one time "7 day early fill grace period". it all depends on the pharmacist! your insurance may approve you to fill your RX, but the pharmacist has enough power to make u wait to the date they feel comfortable..unfortunately i feel that isnt fair...but yea ambien shouldnt even be a schedule IV, LOL..excuse my typos..;.POS CPU

My personally favorite is klonopin. I get a restful nights sleep and it tends to knock me out quick if thats what Im trying to do. As long as I keep it under 2mgs I wake up feeling great. Xanax hits harder but I dont sleep as good with it, it's weird.

True, you gotta find a cool doc but Halcion 0.5mg or even 0.25mg will make you sleep quick with no hangover. If you get em don't get hooked. the withdrawals are wicked!!!

I suspect they are. Especially since Halcon has an average half-life of only 2 hours.

It is different from those drugs because it does not causes fatal seizures in withdrawal or progressive brain and nerve damage. The first paragraph is true but those things are true with all non-bullshit sleep aids. The fact that is allows you to have every stage of sleep makes it the best option.
