Skinny

It depends on the type of shake. If it's nothing but empty calories all your going to pack on is a gut. Protein shakes can be good though as eating nothing but steaks and cans of tuna to get extra protein kinda sucks. On the otherhand most women i know like guys that are abit chubby or atleast not skinny so if you can pull the look off go for the slightly chubby look. I always find it easier to lose weight then gain it as a rule unless im taking alot of opiates with no breaks, eating nothing but fatty food like take out and smoking alot of weed. That was me a few years back 8)

Don't worry about the numbers too much. Hell im probably the fat guy in this thread but am i worried? Naw ;)

It's so important. I'm working through it and I honestly think that embarking on a health lifestyle, both in diet and exercise, is the #1 most important thing a person needs to do if they want to beat an addiction. You really need to get your brain's natural mood chemicals working again normally as fast as possible, and eating healthy and working out are major stimulators of it.

When I was 20 years old I worked out all the time, I was really strong, I could bench press 240 pounds, I could deadlift 355, I weighed 185 pounds. Today, after four years of opiate abuse, I'm about 140. I've eaten so badly. I never eat breakfast, I buy something crappy for lunch, and then I'm too lazy to make dinner when I get home so I do something pathetic like drink a glass of milk and eat a sleeve of crackers and call that a day.

It makes your complexion really bad, I'm constantly constipated, There have been a few times where I'd taken opiates and then I smoked a cigarette and got so dizzy and light headed I almost lost consciousness, like I had to go down on a knee or I'd fall - It scared me so much at the time, but now I think that was probably it, having these drugs go into your system on a stomach that hasn't had anything put into it for 16 hours.

Getting in shape isn't even hard. If you can get to the gym twice a week and lift weights for an hour, you can build a great physique. You don't need to go crazy with planning a diet, we all have a sense of what is healthy food and what isn't, pick the good ones. I'd say the most important clear rule would be to avoid eating sugar. Of course moderation is ok, but really I think a person would do well to eat as little as possible. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables and lean sources of protein like fish, chicken, whey powder, and then oatmeal is probably the best food there is.

The hardest part is just getting started. Once you do, it becomes easy because it makes you feel better and you'll want to continue. It is a true natural high, exercising. There have been times when I'd had a really good workout and I'd be relaxing in the steam room after and taking a shower and I'd feel such a clarity, great mood, it's almost euphoric.

Don't worry about strict diets and workout routines, just focus on being disciplined in actually getting active and eating well and it'll take care of itself.

I used oatmeal & raisin cookies, smeared with natural peanutbutter. Good steaks & fish was pretty hard to come by in Iraq.

=D

I was working so hard for endless 16-to-20 hour days, expending electrolytes and energy so fast, and needed lot of everything.
water & gatorade did the fluids, and the oatmeal/peanutbutter sandwiches gave a nice clean boost to energy levels and muscle endurance.

yup, oatmeal for the carbs, and peanutbutter for the protein. I'd usually put big dollops of peanutbutter in my cereal, icecream, and MRE crackers/bread. I bought it bulk from AAFES since we needed it, and wouldn't run out.

=D

I lost 35 pounds for no reason while I was using heroin went to a doc and they didn't even mention it as bad.....off topic I know.

Peanut butter in cereal? That is something I've never done, I'd probably just eat it plain instead.

Well my definition i am a opiate addict and have been addicted rather heavily to oral morphine, IV morphine, oral oxycodone and IV dilaudid. I guess i was a chubby junkie atleast when i had a steady supply because opiates always made me hungry and i craved fatty and sugary foods alot. So yeah for awile i packed on the pounds quite abit.

I think alot of opiate addicts fit the stereotypical skinny strung out looking junkie due to the cycle of withdrawal and relapse. Then again i do know people who say opiates ruin their appetite altogether and they don't eat. This only happened to me while on very low doses or while in withdrawal.

I know a few pot addicts (high dawn to dusk) that are skinny as fuck. I don't think the drug effects have too much to do with addicts being skinny.

I've never been skinny on opiates, skinny for me was when I was doing methamphetamines. Opiates always make me hungry. Speed is almost impossible to eat on. They also constipate me to the point where food will sit in my intenstines for 24 hours straight just getting all the extra calories sucked out of them. Not to mention opiates always bloat my body and fill it with water, which just adds to the fat look.

I'm not fat by any means but I have a tiny stomach, and its absolutely due to the opiates. I'm rather jealous of opiate addicts that can stay rail thin. I mean they slow down your entire body, your metabolism, and make you hungry, so I would assume most people would be heavier than skinny.
What I'm thinking is because heroin has such a short half life that most heroin addicts are spending more time in wds during the day (shitting and not eating) in between their doses. While a sub addict or pod addict would be more likely to gain weight from the long half life, because there is less time spent in wds between doses.

Of course this is just a theory, but it does make sense to me at least.

^^^ It makes sense because i used morphine SR's usually eaten atleast when i had only mscontins and dilaudid which i usually shot. I spent little time in withdrawals except when id only have dilaudid and would wake up sick since withdrawals come on strong for me after only 6 hours of my last dilaudid shot.

I have seen more then a few people pack on quite abit of weight on opiates. Ive seen potheads who where skinny as the worst tweaker too so go figure.

morphine and heroin made me completely lose my appetite, which meant more money for dope. that's how it was for all of us. especially when heroin got a lot easier to find than morphine. so we'd save up and get a quantity for a few friendship fixes together.

then again, I used to metabolize off pure hate and despair, so who needs food! =D

and yeah, PB in warm/hot grape-nuts. or once my wingman & I smoked some monsterous bud, but found out there was absolutely nothing for the munchies, except a roll of ritz crackers, some smooth PB, a jar of yellow French's mustard in the cabin..... and half an onion.
Yup.
PB & mustard ritz crackers, with a few diced pieces of white onion for kicks.
I still eat them to this day. they're magical on the 'ol budsesses. =D

That is how it works with opiates, the only thing your body wants is more drugs. When I was using heavily, I could EASILY go through a day with my entire diet being something like a bottle of pop and a muffin, no big deal. And I didn't feel hungry at all afterwards.

But I think maybe most of all it's because all you want to do is just get high and sit around. Turn on the stove and cook something, no fucking way, give me a break are you kidding. Even going into the pantry to pour a bowl of cereal and put some milk on it seems like more work than you're interested in at the time.

what is weird to me, is that I'd get all tweaked on opiates pretty much no matter the amount/type, while all my friends would be nodding and dropping their cigarettes into their belly-buttons.

pb and ritz is normal, also cream cheese is good too. but onion lol? i could see it i guess, pb is just that good.

I'm tempted to try pb and mustard right now, but I don't imagine it to be as good as thousands of other combinations I can think of.

I think I might just try hummus and pb... Lately I've been thinking hummus might be just as good as pb, but after a while I realized there just isn't anything as good as pb, I get sick of hummus.

Tried it and pb and hummus is probably the weirdest thing I have ever tasted, I think the hummus ruins the pb and turns it into some inferior mush.

Just tried mustard and pb as well and it is like a sour pb, not terrible, but I still don't think they exactly compliment eachother.

Pb and cream cheese or jelly definitely beats the crap out of both.

fat people often say to me 'oh, youre so lucky, you can eat as much as you want without getting fat'. i tell them 'thats not true i just dont eat that much'.

im not sure what my point is.

Huh, hummus is the anti-PB? Try baba ghanoush! =D

With PB & mustard, yeh gotta get the PB-to-mustard ratio right. What I do is slap a spoonful of PB onto the ritz, and then with the tip of the spoon make a little divot on top. Into that goes the mustard (and onions too). Too much makes it.... mustardy peanutbutter. But when done just right and never having tasted it before, I've seen it make people act pretty weird.... but not because they hated it. It's just one of those flavor combos that throws your brain a loop.

The idea is to get a little bit of the tartness of the mustard in with the sweet & saltiness of PB. Onion gives it a little zip, but I've also used stone-ground spicy (horseradish) mustard, and that was pretty alright too.
