Skin Popping Herion??

Ok, the fucked up people from my health class had little packets of information on drugs, that they passed out to each student. One of the things that it said in them was

Herion can be used in three ways. It can be snorted, smoked, or injected. When it is injected, it can be "mainlined," injected straight into the vein, or "skin popped" injeceted right beneath the skin

Now, I thought when you miss your vein shooting herion, it forms a painful blister, and if you shot it straight into your muscle it would do the same thing. So, was that just another fuck up on the part of some national "dont do drugs, theyre bad for you" thing, or does anyone have any experience with skin popping it?

injecting anything non-medical grade underneath the skin is asking for all kinds of problems and is highly unadvisable. if you are going to shoot street drugs, iv them only.

That's what I thought day_for_night. I figured although possible, highly unadvisable. Yeck, the feds don't only make up stuff thats not true, but they tell you the worst things to do as well! Evil people there at the DEA, or what ever agency realeased the packet. I wonder how many kids from my class are going to try skin popping it now...all their fault too..

I've heard of skin popping, too. Even before I knew why you shouldn't do it.

But I have something called common sense. I don't have a lot of it. But it made more sense to me with the most limited of knowledge that if I was going to inject something intended to go into my veins, I should inject it into my veins.

If some kids in your health class decide to do heroin, it's THEIR OWN FAULT. If they decide to do a subcutaneous injection, it's THEIR OWN FAULT.

If you're old enough to use drugs, you're old enough to take personal responsibility for your actions.

And for crying out loud, you're talking about a health class that's point is to give kids a million reasons why they should NOT use drugs in the first place.

Ignorance is a personal choice.

I read some lyric analysis of Nirvana songs and the book said that 'tasting' referred to injecting right below the skin. This doesn't make any sense to me. I think it mentioned something about 'tasting' being a good way to test purity and quality. I disagree.

This route of administation makes no sense to me. Sure, I've blown shots and done this, but in a medical sense, I assume that intramuscular would be more effective and safer.

Question: If you blow your shot, but get close to the vein, will some of the drug absorb into the vein, due to its close proximity?

Since I mentioned 'tasting'... I'm dying to know if there's a universally accepted term for the real 'taste' that you get from shooting up. That heavenly breathe that you get when the smack enters the capillaries... the sign that tells you 'good job buddy, you'll be high in a matter of seconds.'

Ketamike the "taste" you refered to is the instant effect you get after IV ing a drug, be it Herion, Meth or Coke. Its usally within 10 or so seconds after injection. You taste the substance in your stomach, throat, tounge etc. before it reaches your brain. Where im from all or most of the IV users know the term "taste". When you do miss the vein(happens to the best of us) their is no initial effect, the site of injection swells up kinda like a mosquito bite and the drug slowly (about 30 minutes) absorbs into your system giving you a mild and unsatisfactory high. Its a very shitty experience. I hope i cleared it up.

I have 3 noticable scars that are about 4mm in diameter, 1mm deep. Caused by s/p prescribed heroin (pure). What happens is that a scab develops, falls of and leaves a nasty large scar.

Its not worth it. Skin popping doesnt give you a rush. if have to inject smack/speed/coke - IV is the only way to do it - abcees and other problems can occur if not done correctly - especialy with coke and speed.

Err a scab are you sure? I've never *purposely* skin popped heroin, but I have gotten it subcutaneously by accident, it forms a tender lump under the skin that gets absorbed and hasn't left more than a bruise in it's absence. I do know that skin popping is dangerous though because it can lead to absesses which need to be surgically removed and leave large scars, especially if what your using is unclean. It was street tar, but I was entirely sterile with it, and those lumps were usually only partial misses. Maybe that's why I didn't have much of a problem from them, but a large scab seems odd to me.

sub is deeper. i always used ultra sterile equipment and pharm drugs. see pic you notice a hole in my tattoo, several of these scars all the same size due to s/p
