This Thread is a Thread about the Coping Strategies and what Coping Skills you learned today. My Coping skill that I learned today in recovery was to basically stop and pause to my surroundings and not get too caught up with my racing thoughts. And also try to keep away from negative thinking. Plus try to stay positive by being Optimistic. So, What Coping strategy did you learn Today ?

To refrain from throwing scissors at a new groomer at work, she's rough on dogs,I m secretly filming her but it going to hurt our business ,she has one more day ,maybe till friday, but if no changes after the correction I spoke to her about ,she's gone ,but I see potential, we do take on clients that all shops turn away, but yes I WILL not be violent and hurt her,I learned restraining my dark side and increased empathy, and I'm just super sensitive and know dogs very well,I want to take more Xanax than Im prescribed, but fuck that

I have found stretching to really help me a lot at the moment. My favourite place is the garden but I’ll do it anywhere if I need to.

I also like to do some weird holds, like I’ll sit in a full sissy squat and go on my tip toes and shit like that.

I have ADHD/Autism, so my body always hurts and I am always severely restless. In those moments when I stretch or hold a position with weight, I can relax for a few moments.

I try to stay Composed everyday. ( but I really didn't have a lot of energy today anyhow so it work out 🤕 )

🙂

Well... The ability to pause before reacting or speaking allows for a better part of ourselves to be expressed.
This short period of time allows for choice and freedom in how we respond while decreasing regrets for things we wish we hadn't said or done.
Living within this pause time allows ourselves to increase impulse control which is obviously very important in recovery.

The skill is the simplest to understand and easiest skill to practice while providing the largest results because it can immediately improve our interpersonal relations while also preventing relapse and decreasing regrets.
This "pause period" is rich with potential for emotional growth because we are resisting our "habit energy" and, in the process re-wiring out Brain Neurobiology to slowdown, be more thoughtful & reflective and also be more intentional.

The benefits are.

1. The simplest skills to practice.
2. Provides the most improvements on interpersonal relations.
3. Increases impulse control.
4. Re-wires the brain.
5. Only develops with practice which make opportunities limitless.

Sometimes it's important to stop and smell the roses of daily life.
