Skateboarding-Tips Please

be aware of the power of pebble

you'll be skating

front wheel will hit a tiny stone
and off you will go flying a few feet and then slam

-

i quit skating, well trying to do tricks

when i was trying to learn how to do hand rails
first attempt board shot out i came down on my nuts
second attempt same thing
third try same thing

i then realized learning how to play guitar doesnt involve pain
and moved on to that

i still ride my sk8 around
but im thru busting my nuts and ass

learn how to push properly

^^ I dont know how to say it anymore than that, watch vids for style

flips tricks take forever, again watch vids, so if you dont make a kickflip first try dont sweat it

realize you can skate switch and learn how to do so

tre flips.....its all in the scoop fk it just go buy Show Me The Way and watch Janoski
do it

if you want to get decent skate every day, and dont get discouraged or do break yer board and get a new one

do whatever is natural, so says ethan fowler. i cannot switch ollie for shit.
i dont even bother trying. theres some stuff that might just not work for you and accept it

don't mongo. ever

go butt boarding and realize the above is 100% bullshit

PS ride indys and nothing else

WATCH VIDEO DAYS

whats mongo ?

Mongo's when you have your foot on the back of the board and push of on the ground with the other. If your righty like me I have my right foot on the board and I push with my left. Ive skated like this for 10 years and I used to be pretty decent a few years ago. Just skate how ever you feel comfortable :)

I've been skateboarding for nearly a decade and the most important thing i've learned is how to fall. You want to tuck and roll, break your fall with your elbows and shoulders, don't break your fall with your wrists if you can help it (it's a good way to break a wrist). Try to spread the momentum of the fall on as many different body parts as possible.

Other than that, everyone else has covered the basics. Just get out there as often as possible and make sure you are having fun. Don't worry about getting good, just make sure your having fun. I ruined skateboarding for myself for a couple years by putting too much emphasis on trying to get sponsored and i forgot that it was supposed to be fun.

If you want any specific help PM me, I've been skateboarding for years and I used to be pretty damn good. But overall, just keep trying, it's exhilarating when you do something on your board that you never ever thought you could possibly do.:D

This thread makes me want to skateboard again. My last experience was trying to varial kickflip for like a month straight and then finally landing it and that was like the last time I skated.

Be prepared to get hurt a lot, it'll help you score with guys though.

This thread is making me want to skate too.

I just want to push and bomb gentle hills.

everytime i slammed
i had to take a piss
right after

im glad i never peed my pants

find a place where other skaters hang out and look at how they do
then try to do the same

don't worry about appearing clumsy at first
everybody has to start from zero
^ Holy crap is that a 360 flip into a manual?!
not certain, but it looks like adrian lopez doing a switch 360 kickflip

i've been skating for about 7 years
20 years here. 2 thirds of my life

I skate on and off. Nowadays im more interested in gym and boxing. I love skating while on holiday though!

Oh.

I just found a group of older guys to skate with!

...going to pick up a new stick in about a month when the temperature improves.

i've been skateboarding for a little over 6 years
the things to remember:

1) how to bail properly without getting hurt
2) be able to balance yourself on the board ALL TIME
3) it is addicting

i've tried to quit a few times but the adrenaline of cruising in the bowl or kickfliping a huge set brings me back

you can always ask other skaters for input how to do certain tricks
plus there are always potheads at skatepark if you smoke weed

ah, I haven't skated in about a year. But the best way i learned was to literally skate all day everyday, for months. I have a brand new deck sitting next to me. This thread makes me want to jump back on it bad. (Zoo York deck)

some basics....

put the board in the grass and just jump on it without thinking about it...whichever way you land on it will tell you if you are goofy footed or regular.

experiment with your trucks until you find out what feels most comfortable...most newer skaters will like them some what tight to help them feel stable

just devote some time everyday to riding and learn the basics before attempting tricks...learn how to push correctly, how to turn, how to pump and kickturn on ramps, how to stop, etc

style is something that should be developed from the beginning, so just keep that in mind while you are developing your skills

once you feel comfortable riding around, maybe bombing a small or two, then you are ready for the ollie

from there learn some 180's, manuals, pop-shove its, and maybe even a kickflip or something

if you want any personal advice as you are learning feel free to PM me, I've been skating for the past 10 years and am somewhat decent
