Sixties music freak out thread!

Love the late 60's particularly the psychedelic stuff. So many great tunes already posted.

I also love the 80's. I honestly feel that music ended in the 80's and nothing truly original has been produced since.

I personally think the 90s were one of the best decades ever, but the spirit of the 90s fizzled out mid 2000s. Since then we have been in the musical doldrums. Who knows, perhaps in 10 or 20 years time we'll look on the music of today with new found appreciation. But just imagine how shit the music then will have to be for that to happen....

great to see some Great Society vids - I know them mainly as the source for Grace Slick, but their original take on Somebody To Love is interesting, if not quite up there with the Airplane version IMO

I guess each decade we think music gets crappier, but it depends on what you were doing in your life at the time more than anything, so you associate music - even music that isn't that great - with good times and nostalgia.

Most modern pop/rock just seems to hark back to the classic era of the 60s/70s/80s, but I do often wonder whether all melodies/tunes have already been 'done', so to speak, and it's difficult if not impossible to come up with any new ones, let alone new production sounds.

But every so often I hear a 'new' song that grabs me for some reason - like this one which I heard playing in a shop - Glorious - I had never heard of the band, but it sounds like it could be straight out of the sixties:

my favourite music review site is Wilson and Alroy:

which I've been reading for years - they're incredibly comprehensive and cover a wide range of genres, even though I don't always agree with their opinions, it's worth checking out

Here's Led Zep's the Battle of Evermore with Fairport Conventions's Sandy Denny singing back up vocals:

Cream - White Room

What is Life - George Harrison
