Okay so this may seem like a dumb question but surprisingly I've had trouble getting a clear answer. Just how bad are benzos for you on a dose by dose basis? I'm asking this because, rarely, I take a the lowest possible dose of alprazolam to help with restlessness when trying to fall asleep. My question is not how long before I become addicted or anything like that. I derive zero pleasure from this drug, especially at this dosage, aside from the "pleasure" of being able to get to sleep on the odd occasion when I can't naturally. (I'm talking about once every two weeks or so in frequency.) I don't know if I've ever even felt a discernible high, I just am able to fall asleep. I am quite aware of addiction potential and the horror of withdrawal so don't worry about informing me although I appreciate the sentiment.
Obviously all these benzos wouldn't be on the market and be prescribed so readily if there was significant risk in infrequent, low dosage. But still, all drugs carry some risk so what negative actions does a single benzo dose, specifically alprazolam, have on the body and mind? I know it must be a slight effect if any but this is somewhat theoretical question so please delve into your troughs of drug knowledge to describe what the negative effects these drugs have on the body and mind after a single low dose. Thanks so much.
