Question about the degree of color change.

One of my molly tests with simons ended up reacting to a very dark royal blue, almost do the point of black blue. The middle swirl of the reaction was the dark almost black blue, and as the swirl extended outwards it was more royal blue.

My second test with another batch of molly, i also tested with simons. But the reaction ended up to be a typical blue that I would usually get with simons. It wasn't a dark royal blue, it was a more of a faded blue, with a hint of grey actually on the outside of the swirl. Lets just say it was a mucky blue.

What does the difference in this reaction tell me? Any comments are appreciated
