Sickness after one use

Ok... So I'm 23. I used to shoot dope but managed to get two years clean off H. I still drank and smoked occasionally though. A few months back I relapsed. I didn't shoot up but was sniffing h. Long enough to desire suboxone in order to detox. My plan was two 8mg strips.
Day 1- 8mgs
Day 2- 4
Day 3 and 4- 2

The days after were still a little tough but I felt good. It's been almost two weeks since my last 2 mg dose. No alcohol or anything. Completely clean. Yesterday I fucked up. Sniffed a 20 bag. I'm ready to stay on the right path now and stay off the H. And everything else. At least for a while.
Anyway yesterday I did a twenty. This morning I woke up totally dope sick. After one day of using. Is this normal? I ended up getting a sub to feel better and plan to make the rest of the 8 mg strip last the rest of the week because I'm starting school in two days at the university near me.
I'm ready to be done now and plan to join some kind of support group. I'm really curious and kind of concerned about being dope sick after one use. Is my body just more likely to feel sick since it was physically addicted not too long ago? Please help!

Hey DanaOdee, welcome to bluelight:). I like your handle. When we use for extended periods we end up activating more opiate receptors. These stay activated for six or seven months after our last use. If we use while these are still active then we can find ourselves prety sick after a very small ingestion.

As your figuring out the physical detox is really uncomfortable but the addiction that stays with us is the hard part. Here is some information and threads on addiction and different way people deal with addiction.

You can do this. It can be really helpful to understand what addiction is and how it works and what we need to do to take an proactive approach to deal with it and facilitate a peaceful and enjoyable life.

Here is some information on post acute withdrawal syndrome. Many people experiences diff rent symptoms and here are some things that could help you with dealing with these if they come up. Keep fighting forward and you will make it!!;)
