This weekend promises to be very interesting - my second day of fungus. In preparation, I decided to find a way to disguise the taste. After looking at the shroomery, I settled on one method.
1) Using a blender, I proceeded to finely grind an ounce of shrooms.
2) I put a sauce pan on the lowest heat setting, and poured in 600g of generic-brand milk chocolate chips.
3) I melted the chips completely - even when melted, the temperature was never high. If I were a less couth chef I could have put my finger in the chocolate and left it there indefinitely. The heat level is important because cooking slowly destroys the active ingredient in shrooms.
4) I removed the chocolate from the heat and waited until it was nearly cool, but still viscous.
5) I poured the "shroom powder" into the chocolate and mixed it until it was uniformly blended.
6) I laid out saran wrap in the bottom of a pan, and dumped the chocolate into the pan. Using a spatula I spread it evenly.
7) I froze the mix for a half an hour, then divided it into 25 equal portions. 25 was chosen because some was lost to chocolate remaining in the pan, on the spoons, and in the air during grinding.
Now everything is in the freezer awaiting the weekend. Each portion is about one gram of shrooms. I tried a small amount for flavour - very tasty. Not nauseating in the slightest. Nobody's gonna have taste issues.
