Shroom Smoothie?

If i were to have a smoothie with some orange juice and dried mushrooms in it would the ascorbic acid do something to the active chemicals in the mushrooms to reduce their potency.

Also, would this be a good ROA for shrooms? Which is most effective?

its meant to be a glass of lemon juice if you want to make your mushrooms stronger.
not the soft flavourful kind. the raw kind used in cooking. verrry citrusy and acidic.

orange juice is only used on shroom trips as the vitamin C takes the edge off a bit if someone feels a bit too fucked.
relaxes them a bit.
most effective ROA is eating them.

never heard of people plugging, injecting, or snorting shrooms.
people sometimes smoke them however this does NOTHING and if anything is a good way to get fungal spores in your lungs.
not nice.

Your ROA would work just fine. I'd probably throw the into a blender with my other fruits.

My way of covering the taste is by slapping them on a PB&J ;)

How exactly would citrus juices increase potency? I suppose that they might convert freebase alkaloids to salts, which might be more easily absorbed by the digestive system, but that doesn't seem like it would make a huge difference. I've also never heard it suggested that vitamin C is anxiogenic (or psychoactive at all for that matter). I think that might be myth and placebo there sega. Any way of getting mushrooms into your stomach is a good ROA, the finer the substance and the emptier your stomach the better.

I think by pulverizing and adding to citric acid you are mimicking the digestive process in the stomach. Converts the psilocybin to psilocin (one of the main active alkaloids next to baeocystin).
From my experience the more of the active alkaloid you consume at the very beginning dictates how intense the experience will be, so redosing later will just extend the effects longer.
Personally like the taste of mushies, but have always wanted to try different ROA's, there was another thread not too long ago about making ice cubes.

I think you'll find that psilocybin is converted to psilocin in the stomach by the action of an enzyme, not an acid.

I like to use yogourt to eat mushies with. turn mushrooms into dust, put into some mush dust in soem kind of delicious yogourt with lots of chunks in it, and VOILA ! Couldn't be any easier.

if anything I hear citrus enhances the shroom effect. Word on the street.

It does not.

Aside from tasting quite rank, this will be nothing more than mushrooms plus orange juice.(But there is certainly nothing wrong with that :D)

That would make some sense if there were free alkaloids in mushrooms to begin with. However, they are all stored as phosphate esters I believe.

If you use freshly squeezed OJ the citric acid does seem to bring the effects on a lot quicker than just eating the shrooms on their own, also seemed to enhance the visuals too.

There are no compounds in orange juice that interact with any known receptor sites. Aside from placebo, it is actually impossible for orange juice to effect the psychedelic part of a mushroom experience.

The contents of your stomach are far more acidic than the contents of that bottle of OJ so pH is also not a factor unless your diet is unusually alkaline.

Very interesting, thanks, wonder why there was a noticeable difference then ?

I've always doubted that vitamin C is capable of potentiating psychedelics. If anything it is a placebo.

Why not more talk about graperuit juice?? It has been proven to alter how you enzymes metabolize certain chemicals. If there was any kind of citrus beverage that can alter your psychedelic experience, I would place all my money on grapefruit juice.

YOU LIE!!!!

just kidding, but i'm pretty sure sugar in OJ can be used as brain fuel, acids in OJ definitely interact with known receptor sites on the surface of the tongue :D and best of all, colored liquids in clear drinking glasses are an important part of your set and setting!
