Shpongle 4 Released - Ineffable Mysteries Discussion

a little something to maybe take into consideration:

Shpongle dj sets for 5k-15k or even more depending on the event, and they teeter on bankruptcy, perhaps Simon should part with a few dollars before trying to guilt trip us.

Anyone who thinks Shpongle is "unsupported" is truly mistaken, he is one of the highest paid live acts around in the psychedelic electronic music scene.

That's definitely true, although from what I understand his live shows/DJ sets are his own thing and not necessarily profits for twisted. But I see where you are coming from. Shpongle is definitely one of the best known psychedelic electronic music acts. But on the other hand, Shpongle is still pretty underground. Your average person will not know about Shpongle.

I am probably really biased, but I think it's worth buying a Shpongle CD just so Raja and Simon can keep making such awesome music. For what it's worth I haven't bought a CD in years until the new Shpongle album came out. =D

Anyone else in love with vocals on "I Am You"? They are so beautiful and heart-touching:

You are me, and I am you
I'll always be with you
You are me, and I am you
I'll always be with you

You are the sun, the rainbows and moonbeams
You are the divine goddess of my dreams
You are the sun, the rainbows and moonbeams
You are the divine goddess inside me

Normally, I am not too fond of vocal in my electronic music (samples are okay), but "I am You" these vocals hit in 100%. I just can't get enough of them, it's awesome how the flute kicks in after the vocals as well. :)

Man I love Shpongle! Posford and Raja Ram are really lucky to have the opportunity to put their names into the history of music. I am sure even 50 years later people will still be listening to Shpongle.

I feel the same way man! That's my favorite track... the vocals are amazing...

I listened to that track tripping on some 4-aco-dmt and it was so amazing going through all of the people I've ever met.. and reminding me that we are the same... and that we'll always be together. Even thinking about murderers and people who are very evil.. .and realizing that I am them as well.

It was completely amazing.

I'm another of those who hasn't bought a cd in probably a few years, but pre-ordered a copy of this.

I saw them last night in Camden - great show. Picked up the CD on the way out - haven't even opened it yet!

Might even go again tonight, loved it.

Man you are so lucky to be living in the UK. I wish I could have seen that show. :) It must have been mind-blowing.

LOL, that's funny. Yeah the vocals blow my mind away even when I am sober, I can imagine what they do to you on a a strong psychedelic and/or MDMA.

i was very bummed to hear that the label is going tits up. To be honest all of my shpongle came from torrenting. However, having heard that news i'm def going to be buying their catalog to keep things going for them.

Shpongle makes such intensely moving music that i would hate to think that ineffable tales could be their last....

as for the album, track 3 8o is def my favorite.... the rhythmic thing with the drums and the hang is money, straight cash.

I love the way their sound is evolving, each album has it's own flavor and they're all five star.

<3

best since "are you shpongled?"
i give that album a 10.
tales of the inexpressible is a 10, and are you nothing is an 8+ but i prefer the are you shpongled sound to the "world music" vibe of the second and third albums.
the new albums a little more in the vein of "are you shpongled?"
i listened to a couple songs off it while doing breathing techniques (i don't trip anymore so i figured this would be the best way to evaluate the album.) and it's a good fucking album.

looking forward to hearing this, going to order it, absolutely love Nothing Lasts

Bought it two weeks ago, still have not got it. I guess it takes a while for something to ship from England to Florida. They shipped the preorders on the 2nd? right?

I did DL it somewhere, and it kicks ass.... THe second song is fucking crazy

amazing album.........track 4 and 5 stand out for me, though 1,2,3,6, and 8 are amazing as well. Only track 7 i'm not too keen on.

Another epic standard has been set by the production masters.

Awesome album. I was kinda crushed by it at first, but I kept listening and kept loving it more and more. Trust in Simon, he will not do you wrong.

I have to say the thing I have noticed most about reviews of this album are the wildly different selections of favorite tracks. Between all the reviews here, on twisted's forums, psynews, and people I have talked to, it seems everyone has a different angle on the album. There is no one track that is liked or hated more then any other, and I really believe that that's a sure sign of a masterpiece.
Buy the album, the songs will grow on you like no other.

Another thing, for people who have a high(er) end audio system, preferably in their car, have you had problems with the equalization on the tracks?
I hope its because I have a 1 speaker out in the rear of my car and because I have been to lazy to set the tweeters to -6db (I have to remove the door panels and a bunch of water-proofing to get to the switch on the crossover), but I find my ears hitting a "wall of sound" too often and then frantically playing with my measly 3 channel eq and bass boost knob to try and balance it out. The highs get to be piercingly painfully loud sometimes, and the bass is waaaayyy to overwhelming at other times. Both of these drown out all the other little neat shpongly sounds there are. I never had this problem with other twisted releases, in fact their CDs always sound the best. I fear that the CD was optimized for small speakers (computer speakers & headphones) because on my comp speakers the album sounds fucking fantastic.
