should i?

Do you honestly think it would be fair to your loved ones if you just took yourself away from them? Your family will be left in shock wondering if they did anything wrong and what they could've done to prevent you from doing so.

you posting in here says that you're not thru yet, because you wanted to see what others had to say to convince you otherwise. Theres better for you out there but you will never find it if you leave now. Stick around and see what happens next in life. Good things may be just around the corner.

Please hear me out...

I'm not god (if there is such a thing - and if there was and I happened to be it or even merely a part of it, I'm still not going to claim as such for simplicity) so I cannot tell you if it's right or wrong.

That aside... please here me out.

When I first felt suicidal many years ago, if I had given into it, where or what would that have gotten me? Nowhere, nothing. What did waiting it out for years do for me? Now I have a lot more going for me in life. I moved over 2,600 miles to where I live now, I enjoy where I live, and the potential to earn a living is so much better than where I was living previously. I don't have a permanent, full time job yet, but I hope to as I progress forward. :)

It effectively took my life eight to ten years to finally improve markedly in a way that has made every other day a lot easier to get through. :)

You can always PM me wooger; I hope that you know that.

Exactly. Thizz Machine nailed it on the head.

wooger, you don't want to die. The reason you've asked us in here is because you want us to reaffirm your desire to keep living.
Is it wrong to kill yourself?? Well...in what sense do you mean "wrong"? If you mean "would it be a bad decision" or "would I regret it" then yes, it would be wrong to do it. I know you feel frustrated with your current situation but you're not out of options yet man. Try ALL other options to regain your happiness, and always remember that whatever is going on in your life right now, this too will pass. Suicide is the absolute last resort after you've tried absolutely everything else, and I do not believe you have reached that stage yet.

In your other thread, just today, it sounded like you're doing really well with your taper, things are going to improve from here, at least from that perspective. What else is going on for you right now that is making you consider ending it all??

Wooger, send me that pm you were going to, yeah? <3

Whether it is wrong or right to kill yourself as a philosophical debate, you killing yourself right now would be the wrong decision - for the devastation you will cause your loved ones (believe me, you do not want to put anyone through this) but also because you have your whole life ahead of you. I don't know precisely what has prompted this but whatever it is - it will pass. That is a promise. As n3o said, "This too shall pass" - it's currently my absolute favourite quote, and so apt here. While you are alive you have hope, always. When you are dead, you remove all your free will and hope, and leave a lot of pain and damaged lives behind...

Are you seeing your keyworker or anyone from the crisis team today? Could you give them a ring, do you think?

Plus, we will be devastated here, and you love me and n3o, right? Don't do it, please <3

Don't do it wooger... Call my mothers cell as soon as you see this. Ill tell her to answer. Please don't do anything you will regret. I know how hard things are for you right now especially with the benzos and all but killing yourself is not worth it. You have so much to live for. Call me asap.. And no I'm not mad at your or anything so don't be hesitant to call. I know I haven't been able to talk lately but its not because I'm avoiding you its because I've been really busy or tired.

And don't do it Twiggles needs you and we need you <3

right and wrong is totally subjective? Ask yourself why? The way I see it, there is so much to do a depression is a fleeting experience. Its a tough road but it doesnt have to be a journey you take alone. You're not the first one and not the last to feel like this but you will lose out if you take that step.

It's not worth it mate, no matter how bad you feel right now.

I tried to commit suicide about 3 years ago but luckily survived. My depression was at it's absolute worse. I felt I had nothing and no one. So I decided to die. I ate about 180 painkillers, plus about 150 other mixed anti depressents, anti psychotics and muscle relaxents washed down with half a bottle of jacks and half a dozen bongs. 8 days later I woke up in ICU with a trachiotomy in my neck. A total of 32 days in hospital. Now, I look back at what happened and realise how wrong that decision was. Since then I was able to rekindle old friendships and mend hurtful relationships. I have my two adorable children amazing me everyday and making feel pride beyond belief. Sure life is hard, it's hard for everyone. And mental illness is hard. I still suffer depression and I probibly always will but I am able to manage it better now and understand my illness. Suicide is a long term solution for a short term problem, ok. If you are suffering ask for help, speak to people. Take care of yourself ok, there are alot of people out there who care for you. I am reminded of that fact everytime I kook in the mirror and see that scar on my neck.

i think its selfish.

when youre dead and gone, you leave your family/friends/loved ones with the aftermath...they are now grieving and mourning your death. thinking to themselves, "WHY?!" "WAS IT MY FAULT?" "what could i have done?"

i used to want to die, i have attempted before in the past. i guess now though my depression isnt to the point of wanting to really end my life. when i overdosed, my mom was the one who found me in my room. after that, i saw how it affected here and my dad, and sister...i realized that my actions dont just affect me, they affect everyone around me. my boyfriend, too, tried to kill himself last month. he almost suceeded. he overdosed on ativan and ambien, went to the hospital and had a breathing tube down his throat. the night before he did it, i told him i needed him in this life with me...he just said "im sorry...youre on your own now." i was ANGRY cause i thought wow how selfish he doesnt give a shit about me. after three days of not hearing frm him, no calls/texts, i was flooded and i mean FLOODED with worry, panic, stress, racing thoughts. i drove by his house several times, called him over and over again but he never responded then his phone was turned off. i didnt sleep at all. when he got out of the hospital, i was so relieved to know he was alive. he didnt even realize how affected i was by his suicide attempt. he said "im sorry ill never put you through that again."

so i dunno if suicide is wrong or not, but i know its not the answer to your problems.

I don't think it's wrong per se. And I think there are situations that maybe justify it. If I was looking at spending the rest of my life in jail I would probably say there is no improvement in sight. But, then again, even in prison sometimes people do amazing things. :)

I tried a few times. I'm glad I survived. My life is SO much better now, even with the occasional lows.

I had friends commit suicide, and it left everyone in their lives devastated.

My boyfriend attempted suicide and thinking him dead, and then still in mortal danger once we found him, was the one most horrifying experience I've ever gone through.

It sounds so corny, but things really do get better. Sometimes it's just a matter of shifting your perception. Like my jail example before, you might just need to get used to those circumstances. I know I had to come to terms with certain things in my life that would never change. And so I had to learn to work WITH them rather than AGAINST them.

I completely understand how people reach the point of suicide - they don't mean to be cowardly, or selfish - the pain is simply too great. But I also know the devastation death causes - godlovesugly and Dragon Lady, I am so sorry for your experiences and so glad your boyfriends pulled through <3

And I entirely agree that it is a permanent solution for a temporary problem. While we live, we have hope, and freedom, and choices; while we live, everything passes, even the darkest times. Suicide is so final and it takes all that from us, leaving destruction behind.

Hope you are doing better now Woogs, pm me anytime <3
