Should I tell new Sub doc about my personal care Doc?

Hopefully in the next couple of days I am going to a local Urgent Care that prescribes Suboxone. I didnt know they even existed until recently. Dont even have to make an appointment. Just walk in like any Urgent Care. Only thing is they supposedly only prescribe the Suboxone strips. Which along with the visit will run me over 1000 dollars out of pocket.

One question I have is if I tell this Sub/Urgent Care doc about my Personal Care doc will they inform them about all of this? My personal care doctor who I have been with for 5 years knows nothing of my opiate addiction. He has never prescribed me opiates. Just Klonopin. Which I am actually out of refills on anyways until I go see them on friday.

My personal care doc would most definitely not be cool with this opiate/suboxone thing if he found out. He would drop me as a patient for sure. I am only a few days away from seeing him, and getting 6 refills on my Klonopin too. Although I was planning on seeing this Sub doc first.

Should I tell them about my personal care doctor? I will have Klonopin in my system when the Sud doc piss test me. Which I have a prescription for. I just worry they will inform my personal care doctor about my opiate problem. Is there a chance they will do this?

If I do go back in a month for a followup with this sub doc I will still have klonopin in my system. I would imagine I could get away with it on my first visit as they are expecting me to have drugs in my system. On the second visit I would prob get in trouble for having klonopin in my system. I just dont want my personal care doctor to find out about any of this.

any opinions?

You shouldn't get in trouble for having a medicine you are prescribed in your system. If you try and lie about not having your primary care physician then you will. And I have to encourage you to be honest with all of your health care professionals. If you are in the US your doctors can see all controlled substances you are prescribed whether you admit to it or not. If you're really worried you'll get cut off your benzo's for going on suboxone then maybe go see that doctor first so you're not facing benzo and opioid withdrawals at the same time.

All in all I see this going very badly if you insist on lying...you could end up getting the subs, only to get cut off of your kpins, and then get cut off your subs for having "illegal" medicine in your urine. Just tell the truth dude.

PS I'm pretty sure this thread will get closed as we're not here to help you manipulate or lie to your doctor's but I figured I'd throw in my two cents anyways.

i'm not interested in how to manipulate my docs. i want to know if this sub doc would in some way inform my personal care doc about all of this. is it common for a sub soc to want to talk to your personal care doctor? i figured since my personal care doc was prescribing a controlled substance in klonopin the sub doc might want to talk to him before prescribing the suboxone.

if i knew that the sub doc would not contact my personal care doctor i would not worry about any of this. it sounds great to say "be honest with all your doctors" but the second my personal care doctor finds out about this he will drop me. i know he will. i dont want to be in a situation where i need to find a new doc to prescribe klonopin.

These types of questions, as the sameoldfears mentioned, are not allowed. The protocols where you live are different from the protocols where the people who are responding live, so the responses you will get will never be accurate, and may possibly land you in additional trouble.

Believe me I know the stigma that doctors attach to suboxone patients. I know the fear of getting dropped and getting left high and dry. I can't tell you what is going to happen other than yes, they're going to know what medicines you are prescribed by each other. They probably won't contact each other except to possibly exchange records. I know when I signed up for my suboxone I had to sign a release form for them to have an open record exchange with my pcp. The only advice I can offer which I'm only saying since benzo w/d is extremely dangerous, is go see the doctor who scripts you your kpins first so worst case scenario you have a month's worth of pill to safely taper off of.

If you're sure your pcp will drop you when he finds out you're on subs you need to be looking for a more understanding doctor because you don't deserve to be treated like a second class citizen for seeking help.

I just don't understand how you see this working out. If youtell your sub doc about your legit script for kpins, and thus the information for them to varify with your pcp, you're going to get in trouble for testing "dirty" at the clinic. And if you don't tell your pcp about your sub doc, he may no longer feel comfortable scripting kpins. Give him a reason to trust you.

lets just say that i go see my personal care doctor first, and he gives me my regular script for klonopin. i usually get 6 refills on the knonopin. then a couple of days later i go to the sub doc. if he does infact inform my personal care doctor about my opiate addiction, and that i am about to be placed on suboxone can my 6 refills of klonopin be taken away?

i know for a fact that if my personal care doctor finds out that i was taking a bunch of unprescribed opiates he will drop me as a patient. i have been with him for about 5 years. i dont like him, and probably should eventually look for a new doctor. yet nows not the time for that. i pay for everything out of pocket, and cant neven really afford what i am about to do with the sub doc. All together the price of both doctors, and scripts will be over 1000 dollars. Which I intend to pay for with a credit card.

once i get the 6 refiils of klonopin do i have them regardless of what happens? i am not doing anything illegal. aside from taking large amounts of unprescribed opiates i guess. i will inform my sub doc of my personal care doc, and the klonopin.

i was only thinking of seeing the sub doc first because technically as of today i am not prescribed anything by my personal care doc. all the medicine he gives me runs out today with no refills until i go see him on friday. if i saw the sub doc on thursday i would have the script to show hy klonopin was in my system but no refills.

i just want to get back to the stable fealing i had when i was on subs. my life is slowly turning to crap again with this oxy addiction. spending more money than i make. living my life in one hour incriments. always counting the hours until i dose again.
