Heroin Shot itching like crazy

Just took a shot in my hand, sure I hit the vein it registered and I pulled back numerous times to make sure I was still in it. But now my hand is very red and itching like crazy. It's a bit swollen but not bad, my fingers feel really tense and almost numb tho. There are some hive like bumps so I'm thinking maybe histamine reaction, but I've had them before and they never felt like this. So what's going on? Anything to worry about? Also I got a quarter of this same heroin, and this will be the first bad reaction. If it is a histamine reaction, what causes them? Also what can I do for it? I'm about to run it under some cold water right after I post this.

Also it's very hot as well forgot to mention. Also I did about 3 shots in this vein in this sitting. I did use some other veins as well for other shots, but went back to this one a third time. Maybe that has something to do with it?

^Yeah, even with a little leaking through. You have to go slower with smaller veins as well because they can't handle the pressure of having all that fluid forced into them quickly.

Also, making sure you're in is good, but if you overdo it, you run the risk of jarring the needle out of position...Make sure your in a position where you're able to keep your arm or hand as still as possible, register..then slowly inject with as a little movement as possible.

If there was no burning or pain upon shooting, and no dramatic swelling, I'd say you either missed to some degree or it's a histamine reaction. You don't have to miss to have a histamine reaction, but if you do miss it can be more likely, or appear more readily....The itching should subside and the marks should go away within hours...If it gets worse, or if you start experiencing strange symptoms, like dizziness and a pounding heartbeat, or is the area swells and becomes more irritated, I'd seek medical attention...

I would say its a histamine reaction.

I have seen that happen with morphine and heroin and morphine are rather similar. I am pretty sure heroin starts to convert to morphine when it hits the bloodstream.

You could have missed a bit or you might have leaky veins and if any leaked out it could give you a bit of histamine reaction. In my experience shooting morphine the histamine reaction did not last very long. Maybe up to 20 minutes.

I remember a friend of mine having a really bad histamine reaction when she shot some morphine in her hand. She used her hands to shoot up alot. She really freaked out but it went away in ten minutes.

Antihistamines like benadryl should help. I dunno if cold water is a good idea for a missed shot. If I feel like I missed I usually apply something warm and gently massage the area.

is the blood was bright red, you hit an artery and your hand is going to be swollen and sore for a few days. if the blood is bright, fire engine red NEVER push down

Hmm I can't tell. It's always pretty bright looking. I take blood thinners tho so maybe that has something to do with it. So missing, even a little bit causing a histamine reaction due to the chemicals that are in the H or what? It's not due to not being clean or anything right with my prep and water and everything right?

It went away no more itching but it's a little swollen today and hurts a little when I press on it. Thinking because I did use it several time some might have leaked out due to wholes in the vein or something.

Are you only supposed to use a vein one per session of using or something?
Or can you use it more than once?
Also even if you do miss a little, you're not wasting on H right because it is still ending up in your system right?

Btw thanks for your replies, you're all so helpful!

^^

You should never just keep pounding at the same vein multiple times, especially with small fragile veins like in your hand. Use it, then rotate to a different site while you give it time to heal. Otherwise you are going to destroy your veins.
