Shooting oc's; massive absess.

hi

What's up,
so the last time ive gotten a absess it kept getting bigger so i lanced it myself and drained it on my own and it went away perfectly.
so, basically-- what im wondering is has anybody gone to a hospital for this?
like, do they give you any medication for the pain or what?
do they just expect you to suffer?
im heading towards the hospital this time, but id like your opinion from my fellow filler shooters lol.

thanks,

Ash

wow, i used to shoot drugs.. i have more scars on my legs than i hav e ever seen on anybody!!go 2 the dr, but b honest.. they shoould have no choice but to treat you.. i am lookin for cover up for scars, mine are severe.. havent wore shorts in 16 years.. yes it is that bad.. i have been clean of all drugs for 8 years, but still, what ive done to my body haunts me every day..

since you dug this up, its worth commenting that shooting in your legs is a bad idea, you are much more prone to infection, and there are a mass of nerves, lymph' veins', arteries, and layers of tender tissue.

plus the containment of pants or socks equals heat, darkness, and trapped moisture. its just no good. with pills this is all especially worse, my friend who took up the point wound up "having" to go for his legs with ms contin/roxies/H, then speed balls.

he was my connect, but ignorant, the poor fool after a months violent use his left leg with out unbearable pain... him just pumping gas into his car was a pathetic enough sight.
he would ask questions with deep concern, and caution. but if Morpheus wants your leg, arm, heart ventricle or quadrant,,, Morpheus will take it, if allowed.

omg, today its so much smaller.. i really hope panic is right about it possibly being a 72 hr thing.
the hot heat compresses are helping and im taking antibiotics i had laying around from a prior root canal, thats what ive done with all my absesses and i have all these antibiotics all over the place from back when i didnt think they were important.
thankfully i saved them.
i know the humilitation sucks so bad from doctors..
could you belive i wanted to be a phlebotomist? lol
maybe one day... but right now.. theres no way i would get through those doors with tracks and cut scars like mine.
i just feel like id like to turn my self abuse around and instead of poking myself constantly, and killing myself in the process-- why not do it to help another, blood work is very vital to so many things.
....and i hate the n00bs that go fishing.

Glad to hear it's going down but you should still get yourself to a doctor for this. How old are the antibiotics you're taking? If they have been laying around for upwards of a year, you need to avoid them. Also, antibiotics do not work unless you take them *exactly* as prescribed, so even if you miss one or two it could alter the over all treatment.

Also, maybe a little doctor-induced humiliation could be somewhat of a wakeup call for you? If you're getting this many abscesses, you really need to take a step back and look at this from the outside. Hell, if you're shooting up, you need to take a step back and evaluate what's going on in your life. It's not my place to tell you what to do though, so I can only sit here and recommend that you consider getting yourself some treatment for both your physical and emotional needs, and I say this without any judgment and the utmost respect as I know how you feel. You don't want to end up with something this bad (I couldn't walk without crutches for weeks and even lightly brushing my foot meant excruciating pain):

Good luck.

Cephalexin is the name of the antibiotic I used to take when my arms were well fucked up. A couple abscess left scars mainly [I believe] because when they had to drained they really had to slice them open. That was the MOST INTENSE pain I have ever felt even with multiple shots of a local. Once drained they packed them with medicated gauze. The smell of the skin, phew, ugh.

Often I sometimes wonder what I was thinking besides not thinking. When I had that liquid in a syringe it had to get into my body immediately and sometimes I would keep shooting into a massively fuct up area.

As for the scars not really what you would imagine, all those tracks in the crook of my elbows, down my forearms, on my hands, fingers pretty much faded after 5 years or so. Although I can instantly look at my arms and recognize what look like faded tracks to me but others dont even notice. The crook of my elbow looks like some alien came floating down into my room during sleep and took small circular skin samples from where they sliced abscesses.

rambling...

peace.

Epsom salt baths and compresses will help if your not going to get professional help. Combine with antibiotics(you'll have to figure out which one, which is a crapshoot without having a lab look at it) and you can usually take care of most abscesses.

Yes

Yes I recently was hospitalized for 5 days after an abcess on the bend of my left arm swelled up to the size of my leg. After having part of my muscle and a vein removed I was left with a gaping hole of about 3 inches wide and 1.3 inches deep. They gave me a morphine pump for the first 2 days after surgery, with my own button and everything. They were very generous with the morphine. I personally don't get high off of morphine, but after the 2nd day they gave me methadone and morhpine injections for breakthrough pain. After day 5, and they released me with a RX of 22, 10mg methadone pills and 1 refill. I'm not sure if these helped much or not, but now the doctor won't give me anything but tylenol 3. If you do go to the doctor I would suggest telling them it was from a bug bite, or something that penetrated your skin while working

OK, so i am new to this forum but not new to the problems with IVing opiates. i missed on my hand the other day, im trying to get a link to a pic: file:///E:/DCIM/102MSDCF/DSC00175.JPG -if u out that into the address bar it works, on my comp at least. not sure about anyone elses. if not, its pink, puffy and peeling around the outside, all and all about the suize of a nickle, it was quarter size to thats good.
so my question in this, this happened i think on tue. its been getting smaller and its not as warm as it was. i drained it the best i could with my rigs and got some brownish nasty shit out. but now the texture is weird and its kinda peeling. doesnt itch tho.
so ,long story short, any advice???

See a doctor. Seriously. We can't give reliable medical advice here.

In the interim, wash it regularly, bandage it, keep it clean.

A few years back my mate had an abcess on his arm from shooting heroin.
It looked like a big red boil that felt hot to him.
At the hospital they cut it open and squeezed out all the pus which absolutely stunk something rotten.
This left him with a hole in his arm which was cleansed with iodine then they packed the hole up with wadding.
He had to return to the hospital every 2 days to get the old wadding removed and replaced with fresh wadding.
It took a week or two to clear up fully and he has been left with just a small scar where it was.
He did say it was something he wouldn't want to go through again.
So make sure you practice safe injecting techniques and always use new clean needles.

My friend got a abcess to and omfg it was awful. Ive never had one even though i have missed a few shots over the years. The important thing is to filter your stuff properly, use new syringes and needles and to use clean works. Don't use a syringe you have used 10 times already, a dirty old spoon, throw some dope in it, use tap water and a cigg filter and expect no consequences from such unsterile shooting practices.

Taking the time to do it the right way can mean the differences between getting nothing more then a little needle mark that goes away right quick to nearly having to get your arm hacked off or actually having to get it hacked off. So hard reduction is well worth it.

Go see a doctor, period. You don't want to be crippled just because you didn't want to confess to a doctor that you are shooting up. Its simply not worth it. If you shoot opiates anyway why bother with pain medication from the hospital.
