Hey everyone! We used to have a thread like this back in the day, but I can't find it now. If anyone can find it we can merge the two, but I found an interesting website this morning that I wanted to share.

Please share any diet trackers, websites, apps, recipe collections, meal planners, exercise websites, or anything related!

Here's the one I found:
http://swole.me/

the diet plan it generates should be taken with a grain of salt, because they aren't actually meals. But it gives you a good idea of a nutritional profile to aim for. What I liked about the site was this portion of it: http://rhainur.freehostia.com/programpicker/

It's a tool that generates workouts for you based on your goals. Thought some of you would find that helpful!

Have a peaceful day... Happy friday! :D

This is a great app/website for keeping track of your workout routines, sets/reps, etc. It's cool because you can track your weight/sets/reps on your phone and then synchronize to your account on the website which has graphs and stuff charting your progress.

I love the idea of this thread and after years of abuse and not living healthy does take it's toll, but living healthy helps and work's wonder's for your physical and mental
well-being.
Will be popping back regularly to see suggestions
and I'll dig out a few of my own.

CRON-O-Meter is a neat little program you can download that will track the nutritional value of the foods you eat during the day. It's a fun way to find out if there are any 'gaps' in your nutrient intake, so you can change your diet or supplement appropriately.
I downloaded that to try it out awhile back. The first food I entered (which I cannot remember right now, but will search my posts to see if I mentioned it here as I was referred to CRON-O-Meter here) was not found in the program, despite it being an all natural, whole plant food like barley or oats. Twas very strange. (And yes, I'm sure I spelled it right. :P) I mean, it is a good program, but that kind of made me not want to use it, if it's not going to have the foods I eat.

ETA: apparently it was oats that I could not find in that program. I just tried it again with the web version, and unless "Cereals, Quaker, Quaker MultiGrain Oatmeal, dry" is "oatmeal"*, they still don't have non-instant oatmeal. They have oats, but the calories in cooked whole oats would have to be different from the calories in cooked oatmeal, as oatmeal has been flattened and takes up less space. ...Right?

*I'm looking up the ingredients now. Cannot find the ingredients for that cereal anywhere, but I doubt it's "old fashioned rolled oats".

^You can input and save your own food into the database. I'll admit it's a pain in the ass though, as there are foods that I think should most definitely be in there that aren't. Not a huge issue. Certainly not a deal breaker IMO.
They probably update the program perdiodically though, and I've found that if you use it for say a month or so, you start to get used to what it's going to say. After a while, you just dont need it anymore...This is of course assuming one who uses it actually learns something from it and creates a proper diet for themselves. I have faith that many here at Bl would do that :)

which I cannot remember right now, but will search my posts to see if I mentioned it here as I was referred to CRON-O-Meter here)
Heh, it was probably me who refered it to you in the first place.(Many moons ago, I recall pointed a few Blers in that direction)

It was you, actually. :) And yeah, while I can input my own food, it's a time consuming task if I have to do that for more than a few foods that I eat. For a program not to have oatmeal (though I don't eat oatmeal anymore), it has to be pretty darn good for me to still use it. And I'm sure it's awesome for some people--Especially those who care about their intake of certain macronutrients. :P

That is strange. Lol I would've thought they would at least have freaking oatmeal.
My bad :|

I guess periodicals are terribly old fashioned, but I still like my favorite magazines... even more now that they have companion websites.

I use Yoga Journal every day. I often practice a featured pose for the whole month, to boost my confidence as well as my skill. Also they have guided meditations that I find extremely helpful.

Yoga International is a terrific publication also, and their website is also full of free information. (But the Yoga magazines all seem to offer a premium service that you can pay for. Just reading about the yoga retreats makes me doubt I will ever be able to afford to attend one.)

How did yoga go from the humble beginnings with lowly yogis in devotion and wearing ragged clothes to yoga mats that are $450, yoga pants for $70, all of which you must obtain if you are going to go to a downtown studio for practice, which will probably cost you your 401 before it 's all said and done. What will Janice and Edna be wearing? Mary and Teresa simply MUST look cuter than Janice and Edna this week.

That isn't yoga. Yoga is not a religious but it melds nicely with many if not most religious concepts. Stress Zen Meditation doesn't worship Buddha, it trains, which is different than teaching, it TRAINS the mind in new patterns of thought. Creative energy is always released when it is honored in this way.

Yoga injuries are fairly common. Talk to your doctor before you go off half cocked. Please do not do any yoga position which pains you. Pain is not what yoga is about. If an yogi demands you to bend more than you can bend, he or she is not the best teacher for a beginner.
People are daft... all that money for yoga when you can do it in your home in the nude for fuck sake. (That's how I do it.)

^This is slightly off-topic as I don't have a resource to add, but I'm super interested to hear you're so into yoga, Ugly! It sounds like you really know your stuff.

I dabble in 'Zen classes' (mixture of yoga, Pilates and meditation) when I've done a rigorous training session to help me to stretch and warm down.

Is there a yoga mega-thread? I' love to see any contributions you might have - if not, it would be great for you to start one. :)

EDIT; it seems there isn't one that I could find in HL! Go forth and post Ugly. :)

Ugly and CotB:

It's possible to find a cheap meditation/ yoga center near you (as long as you don't live in the sticks). Ugly, who cares what other people think of YOU, let alone what they think of each other? Just go and create your oneness. :)
