Misc Shaky and panicky feeling day after alcohol or seroquel?

Hi

So, I drink quite a lot of alcohol (say, about 2-3 times per week, of which one day I get absolutely hammered). Sometimes, the day after the heavy drinking, I have some weird after-effects: I feel panicky and I shake a little. My movevents are always very shocky (e.g. I always turn my head very abruptly instead of just gently, like you would normally do).

A benzo fully relieves me of these nasty symptoms, but still, I'd like to know what they're about. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they're withdrawal symptoms but I'm in no way physically addicted to alcohol.

Another thing is that I also have the symptoms when I have used Seroquel. I rarely use it, maybe once every two months, when I'm unable to sleep and have no other medication at hand to put me to sleep. I'd even say the after-effects are even worse after using Seroquel than after said nights of heavy drinking.

Is anyone familiar with this? Or can anyone explain how come I have these syptoms?

Thanks!

Well, thanks for the heads-up, bro, but me living in Europe and all that, I'd say some Massachussets police officers are less of a concern to me than the things I described in the OP.

Booze is buggering your blood sugar levels. Thats why you feel the tremors.

Diazepam will help, suppose most Benzos will. Tomatoes will help.

Obvious another drink will help. JUst don't do that, Keep the booze down withdraw slowly at ya own pace.
At least you can always get booze, slowly does it.

Good luck T

Thanks bro, and I'm guessing that's the exact same reason why I also get them from Seroquel (some people get diabetes from it some I'm guessing it fucks with your blood sugar as well).

Also, would consuming a shitload of sugar or complex carbs before going to bed prevent this?

I think Welskmick nailed it... Both Seroquel and alcohol cause hypoglycemia, which sounds like what you are describing.

As an aside, Seroquel has a whole range of actions that could cause some of these effects you are feeling as well:

D1 , D2 , D3, and D4 receptor antagonist
5-HT1A , 5-HT2A, 5-HT2C, and 5-HT7 receptor antagonist
α1-adrenergic and α2-adrenergic receptor antagonist
H1 receptor antagonist
mACh receptor antagonist

another thing to consider, even though i know you said you are not physically addicted to alcohol, is that you are experiencing mild withdrawals from the alcohol after the heavy nights or whenever. benzos would completely get rid of the symptoms because they generally do that--that is, benzos can relieve the symptoms of alcoholic withdrawal. it might be due to other factors people listed as well, but i wouldn't totaly count out the possibility of mild withdrawal after a binge. (i dont know anything useful to add about seroquel).

edit: i meant to add that i used to get shaky/panicky feelings when i drank more often in college too. i started getting full panic attacks when i was a sophomore, and the amount i drank back then, though not heroic by standards of lifelong severe alcoholics, definitely was a large contributing factor.
