I have seen the world through beggars eyes
Kneeled in the stream when the dam broke
Bringing forth waves of depression and madness
Sat helpless, chained, as spirits floated by, laughing
The insanity of others pressed fully on my spine
Wrote volumes on what I had seen
and sold them to those with the glowing eyes
Taught myself to close my eyes
Let my screams shut out the silence
Let my thoughts shut out my screams
Let the night shut out the visions
Let the dawn cut out my life
and the pacing madman with the rock in hand
Babbles on and cuts the wall
His thoughts invade my head
Until I can't stand to hear another word
Sweat on brow and existence in hand
I withdraw
Free at last
Cut loose of the shackles of the madman
Free to do my own thinking.
