I'm wondering if it has gone well for anyone? I'm a guy and a recent promotion moved a girl I have chemistry with to be my boss. I'm not sure what to think of the situation. Thoughts / opinions?

I did now where married with 2 kids but its a minefield as so much can go wrong if they are interested take you time about it as if it goes sour can affect your job adversely

Depends what kind of job you do, and what your direct roles and responsibilities are. Also depends on what kind of people you both are.

Either way, more potential to become messy than sleeping with someone that's not your boss, but it's really up to you to decide whether it's worth the risk or not.

Oh dear. I've talked about my experience before, so I'll spare people my TLDR again, but I suggest you find a new job now. It's better all around anyway whether you stay together or break up.

Hmm... Thanks for the replies. ...So it looks like things generally go very well or very badly? With maybe a bias towards going badly?

I don't know who I'm kidding about not pursuing this, because I know damn well that I am. I guess I will keep up my job search for now in case things go south.

Never shit where you sleep. That has been and always be my philosophy on romantic relationships in the workplace, whether it be peer to peer or manager to subordinate. It's just a bad idea and the potentional for a hostile and horrific working environment when the relationship goes to shit is too great. I would also find that working with my partner takes away from my individuality, separatation from one another (to a degree) is healthy, no one needs to spend 24/7 with their partner. It would be way to claustrophobic for me.

Don't do it. Never have sex with the boss, or co-workers. If you have no interest in a serious relationship, it always ends badly.

go chase some pussy that cant fire you.

If she fires him after they've had sex it would be a very dumb move on her part (assuming that he lives in a Western country with sex-neutral laws). Go for it dude.

Or they can just fire both of them, which was my experience. Fire the boss, and then get rid of the other one in whatever performance review you can dump on a few months later.

This is still a potentially important but unanswered point

where I work there have been many co-workers who have dated and quite a few marriages. when 2 co-workers are in a relationship if one of them is promoted the other usually gets transfered to another team so there is no boss/subordinate complications.
