I understand methadone doesn't "block" opiates in a traditional sense but I know it has one of, if not the most, affable holds on your opiate receptors which prevents other opiates from filling them, and thus makes doing them pointless.
However, I have a friend who doses up to 80mg of methadone at a time and then snorts oxys or eats vicodin on top of it and swears that he feels them just as strongly as he normally would. I know this has to be false, because I've been in MMT before and I wasn't able to get ANY kind of buzz from opiates for DAYS after stopping my dose. Even without MMT my experience has been that Methadone prevented me from getting high after a single dose. I've even IV'd a good amount of heroin 12 hours after dosing 40mg of methadone and felt literally nothing.
So can someone settle this debate for me? I hate to see him wasting money on opiates after dosing methadone when I believe the high he is feeling is from the methadone itself. He loves methadone, but I think he is mistaken here. Maybe I'm the one that's wrong though, that's why I'm posting here today. Thanks for your help.
