Serzone(Nefazodone) CYP3A4 inhibitor against Benzos for Anxiety

I've read alot on how Serzone can effect xanax... but I'm confused a bit.... My question is simple.. I think.

I just started 25mg of Serzone both night and morning. - Correct me if I'm wrong but Serzone is a anxiolytic drug plus he may just be wanting to increase the duration of the benzos...

I'm been and currently on .25-.5mg of Xanax 3x a day as needed and 1mg of Klonopin every morning On top of this, 1 to 2 15mg of Temazepam for sleep.

Will this low dose of Serzone effect the benzos?

I understand how the whole CYP3A4 potentiator effect works but what does it actually potentiate(sp)... Will it "boost" the anxiolytic effects or just the lengthen duration of the anxiolytic effects?


Any info would be appreciated.

Serzone is a psychoanaleptic (Anti-depressant).

I can answer all your questions on Serzone only when I know the correct dosage that you are taking.

50mg a day is a pretty low dose, but maybe your doctor just wants to see how you respond to the drug before increasing the dose.
But I suppose my answer below should answer your question.

When alprazolam (1 mg BID{twice a day}) and nefazodone (200 mg BID) were co-administered, peak concentrations, AUC and half life values for alprazolam increased by approximately 2 fold at steady state. Nefazodone plasma concentrations were unaffected by alprazolam. If alprazolam is co-administered with SERZONE, a reduction in the alprazolam dosage is recommended; no dosage adjustment is required for SERZONE.

Figured I was at a low Serzone dosage. Guess time will tell if I go up in dosage. Anyone out there taken Serzone with any benzos?
