hi all. I've been tryin to kick my opiate habit for a while now. i was on methadone maintenance (approx 60mg)for about 9 months, then i switched to suboxone(approx 12mg) for about 2 months, then i decided to stop. The problem was that i couldnt make it more than 5 days at a time. I would end up going 3-5 days without anything, then i'd take 30-60mg of methadone. The dones usually give me about 3 days before i feel the full effects of wd again. Its been about a month of me goin 3-5 days, then usin the dones again. today was my last dose of 60mg methadone. i start a job in about a week and i need to get thru this once and for all. firstly im kinda confused. if u keep doing what i did, does the wd basically just reset everytime u use? or have i been making progress everytime i go 5 days then use? does it get easier like that? anyway i dont have much to use to make the wd less terrible. i bought some loperamide for the stomach problems, motrin for aches, a lil weed for pain, and my buddy gave me a handful of seroquel to put me to sleep. I've never taken seroquel and im not gonna lie it kinda freaks me out. He told me to only take like 25-50mg at a time. does this sound about right? im afraid its gonna knock me out and i'll fuckin die in my sleep or some shit. also, does anyone know of any good restless leg syndrome over the counter meds? if anyone has any advice or other over the counter meds that will help by all means please let me know! i have a week to get over this shit and im rly fuckin worried!!! bluelight has been a lifesaver for me over the past decade. hopefully i can get thru these withdrawals and be opiate free! thank you bluelight!!!

I'm no expert, but I am Rxed Seroquel for sleep as well as morphine and oxy for chronic pain, all by the same Dr. I take 25mg and can take 50mg if needed, but I've taken up to 100mg and had no problems. My experience is that the first few times I took it, it knocked me out hard and I slept for upwards of 16 hours. But my tolerance to it built up quickly and the time slept sleeping decreased pretty fast. I've found it's good for the first few days to get through the worst of it but it's not going to work for months on end. I'm one of the lucky ones as I don't get RLS when I WD Thank God, because it sounds horrible, so I can't help you there.

It will definitely help you sleep, but the restless leg syndrome side effect could potentially backfire on you. I wouldnt exceed 50mg's.

It would be more beneficial with some diazepam or clonazepam. The muscle relaxant properties are superb for WDs. That's how I got thru my methadone detox. Benzos and gabapentin.

oh trust me man i'd kill for some benzos. unfortunately i have no way of getting any. like i said, im out of options other than over the counter meds. any suggestions? ive heard that taking MASSIVE amounts of loperamide can help wit wd symptoms, i tried it a few times...seemed to have a lil effect but it coulda been the placebo effect. plus taking large quantities of shit like that with unknown consequences just doesnt seem too smart. also...how long is the average wd from dones? like i said...im more/less comin off of suboxone, but the past month i've been regulating the sub wd with the occasional dones, i know it takes a LONG time to get fully over wd, but i mean how long until the worst of it is over? like i said i gotta start a new job soon and i want to be able to get thru the tough part before starting. should 7 days be sufficient?

Lots of info if u UTSE, if you can get hold of gabapentin (Neurontin) for RLS, clonidine is helpfull also i've read and some valium or similar molecule, then it's a question of tapering.... do you have a taper schedual.. CT is difficult as fuck, i CT'ed benzos GBL and methadone at the same time... was unbearable, benzos were the worst i think, started drinking, even that didn't ^prevent me from going psychotic and all that goes with (nasty badass PAWS especially...)... that was 3 years ago now...

Rcently I tapered bupe relatively slowly, from 8mg to 0.2mg (temgesic brand name... not available in all countries, but you can get down to 0.4 mg bupe everywhere) to no opiates at all in appox 6 months, its been 2+ months since, so opiate free (but far from not being an addict...)... i had benzos... i obtained more than uual at th very end of the taper which was far more difficult than the start...

But yeah, a taper plan (fast to start, and gradually slower... it's more or less tough depending on you...) ie. 30mg/ for a week then 20mg/week (or two weeks or month, depending on your metabolism and how u respond to the taper) then 15mg, 10mg, 7mg 5mg 3 2 1.... NONE... just an example Gabapentin, pregabalin, immodium, benzos, carisprodol/meprobamate oh and apparantly Clonidine is very helpfull too

Also be follod by a doc (psychiatrist specialising in addiction preferably...), helps loads... but wwe're not all so lucy as to have that at hand

Goodd luk
won luv

ya like i said...cant taper...have no way of getting any more dones or subs. no possible way to get benzos or clonidine, or any kind of prescription drug(unless you think a walk-in clinic or emergency room would prescribe it, which is pretty doubtful in my small town). thanks for the info, but like i said i'm stuck with over the counter meds.
