Sorry, Im not sure where to put this post, as there is no "Comedown Assistance" section:

Its sad to see how much seroquel gets a bad name on this forum. Obviously it has no recreational use however as a comedown killer, it is unsurpassed. While a benzo will "disguise" a comedown as a downer hitting the GABA receptors... seroquel completely shuts everything down taking you to baseline without any negative effects.

I was prescribed seroquel for its off label use as a sleep aid, before i realised its amazing potential as a comedown aid. I have gone through 3 days of meth binging and worse, popped a 300mg of Seroquel and slept like a baby 40 mins later without any comedown.

It will take your overactive dopamine receptors and shut them down (its a dopamine antagonist) in a way that allows you to pass out feeling like its a completely natural sleep.

Obviously its powerful anti-histamine effects help with the sleep as well.

I do have 1 warning though, never wait for the comedown to begin before taking your seroquel. Its not a benzo, it wont stop your jitters or anxiety. It drops your blood pressure and causes some concerning heart palpitations which are stressful when suffering a "comedown anxiety attack".

Your best bet is taking your seroquel asap after your last hit. This will allow you to pass out within the next 1.5 hours long before the comedown anxiety hits. Seroquel also lasts long, at least 10 hours of restfull sleep. This is long enough to bypass any comedown you may be expecting. Another bonus is that Seroquel is utterly non abusable (unlike benzos or Ambien) meaning your not going to be replacing one addiction for another.

To summarize, throw that dirty shit away: Ambien and Benzos. They are not helping you. At all. Get rid of it.

I agree but 300 is a beast! I use 50 or 100. They (doctors) say that a small dose is better for sedation, I'd take that 300 and use it 3 times.

Yeah i got used to 25mg very quick, 300mg was a good number. The dosage varies so much from 25mg all the way to 800mg. Stuff is powerful though. And very useful.

Quetiapine (Seroquel) is not something to be taken lightly. It is an antipsychotic, and it may have fewer side effects than some of the older antipsychotics but it is still possible to experience all the movement disorder effects - akathisia (extremely uncomfortable restlessness) as Psychedelic Jay said, rarely acute dystonia (an immediate reaction involving tensing and torsion of the neck and eye muscles requiring emergency treatment), tardive dyskinesia (involuntary, repetetive movements, difficult to treat) in the long term plus an increased risk of weight gain, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. I am not at all comfortable with the trend of popping it to sleep or to help a comedown.. it is a good medication if used correctly, for the treatment of psychosis or bipolar disorder, but it should be respected.

Benzos are addictive and they should be used cautiously as well, especially in the medium-long term, but they have fewer side effects than antipsychotics.

I pretty much totally disagree with the OP on this topic. Anti-psychotics can be helpful in a stim comedown, or to abort a bad trip, I will give you that. However, anti-psychotics are very dangerous drugs in an acute sense, and cause a myriad of side-effects, both acute and chronic, regardless of whether or not you continue to use them. If I were to force a comedown from a stim or psychadelic, I wouldn't avoid using them if I had to because I know I can tolerate most of them fairly well in the short term, but you best believe I'd take a nice dose of whatever benzo in addition to that. Anti-psychotics are the "dirty shit", not benzos or z-drugs. I will say I have a small stash of Seroquel in the case of anxiety, panic, or unpleasant mental activation that cannot be quelled by a benzo alone. Even when I consider taking a bit of Seroquel when those times do hit, I remind myself I will feel like shit for the next day, sleep, eat, and shit, and that is all, and so in the last 4 months I have used the Seroquel once when I went to a funeral service. Even then I regretted it, but who knows what shit would have happened if I hadn't, I almost cried while on it in the curch, and I didn't even know this guy, but I am sensitive to funerals I guess. Anyway, I am getting rather off topic. Anti-psychotics are dangerous drugs, which are over-rx'd, overused, and can cause serious permanent damage. I am not against using them in certain particular instances, but I wouldn't want to take them whenever I got upset. Their danger is very underestimated, VERY, and their effects are very unpleasant.

^Very well said.

My 8 yr old daughter takes 400 mg of this and the dr plans on increasin it. *scream* It is NOT helpin her calm down or sleep. I take 300 and it seems to keep me "happy". I have however, and I know how dangerous this was, took the full 900 mg that the dr said is the max and I got messed up. Noddin, laughin at everythin, and an all around good time. I would NEVER recommend someone try this but it was fun for me once. I do have high tolerances of everything thanks to me abusin everything so I was surprised the reaction I got from this one time. Again, do NOT try this!!! It was my low moment of needin a fix in a dry county.

My god, this sounds perfect for me. I get maximum benefits from amphetamines (I am prescribed dexedrine for ADD) when I spread the doses out throughout the day but the downside of this is it gives me insomnia. I used to take opioids but its become too impractical to obtain them so recently I've been taking GHB but it is far too addictive and causes me other problems. Z drugs give me poor quality sleep. Seroquel might be just what I need.

Akathisia is also a beast on seroquel... You may be sedated, but it damn sure isn't restful...
I retract everything I just said. Akathisia, thats the term I'd been looking for. I have been experiencing severe akathisia for quite some time. Dexedrine induces the polar opposite (it makes me so relaxed I can sit in one spot without moving a muscle for hours) but when it wears off, I get this whole body akathisia which is horrible. Excessive doses of opioids cause it too for some reason. I even get it "on" GHB which is strange considering GHB is supposed to be a muscle relaxant.

What dose dexedrine are you on per day? Are you on IR?

I'm prescribed Dexedrine for my ADHD and Seroquel (100 mg if needed at night for sleep). I'm also prescribed ambien just in case the Seroquel doesn't work.

I pretty much agree with all of this. I like to keep some around in a pinch, but prefer not to take it unless I really need to. Basically if I am trying to conserve my benzos, or if I am mentally unwell, I will take 25-50mg of it.

The main side effects that I get from it are dry mouth, and frequent urination. Those are some bad side effects to have from it if I were to use it for amphetamine comedown, since amphetamines already cause those side effects, so the combo makes it worse. Also, it really sucks being extremely out of it from the seroquel, and having to do the zombie walk to the bathroom a bunch of times.

45mg of dexedrine per day. I find that it is most effective if I take 25 mg in the morning, then another 10mg at lunch time and the last 10mg at around 2PM. If I don't need to be up the next morning, I'll redose at late as 5PM. The problem is the insomnia comes on around 12 hours after my last dose. I can usually fall asleep before the dexedrine fully wears off but its hit and miss, sometimes I'll sleep 8 hours, sometimes I wake up after 2 and can't get back to sleep. I should have suggested seroquel to my psychiatrist last time I saw him, he probably would tried me out on it. He prescribed me zolpidem and melotonin (yeah, even melotonin is prescription only in Ireland, the ridiculous nanny state that it is) but neither work for me. Last time I saw him, I suggested sodium oxybate lol. He looked it up in his book but needless to say, he wasn't too keen on prescribing it to me. When you wake up after sleeping on zolpidem, do you feel rested the next day? I feel like crap for the whole day, even after sleeping for 12 hours straight on it. Hows the sleep quality with seroquel? GHB gives good sleep quality but I find that its far too addictive to use regularly as a sleep aid. My psychiatrist recently retired, I'm scheduled for an appointment with a new one next month, hopefully he/she knows more than my previous one about sleep aids.

Zolpidem gives me 5 to 8 hours sleep.

Seroquel gives me at least 7 to 8 hours sleep. You'll feel a bit groggy when you wake up.

I use Seroquel most of the time but when it doesn't work (tolerance), I use zolpidem/ambien as a back-up.

Seroquel does not knock everyone out. I can take 400mg's and still not be very drowsy but then again i have been on and off anti-psychotics for years and have a tolerance of sorts to anti-histamines. I wouldn't call it the best anti-psychotic for a comedown either as id put zyprexa zydis at the top of that list.

If you take seroquel and find a damn thing even remotely fun, you are truly psychotic...

There is no way one of the most disgusting drugs out there is fun...

Alcohol is disqusting, but it is 3,000,000,000 times more euphoric than any antipsychotic will ever be... WTF are you people thinking?

Not a fan of this stuff at all.

First time I tired it I was at the river drinking beer with friends and my buddy hands me one, says "Its like a xanax". I split it in half and ate it. An hour later I can't even stay awake, slept for hours and woke up with a hang over.

Stupidly, about a week later I ate the other half expecting maybe an hour of fun and sleep afterwards. Did it purely out of boredom, instead I got hours of pain in my hands/feet. I could swear the pain was "in my veins", as you can imagine it wasn't pleasant.

I know it works well for some people but I am not one of them. I avoid this stuff like the plague.
