Seroquel for Anxiety/Depression?

My pdoc prescribed me this medication yesterday after I told him that I've been suicidal and have slightly abused my klonopin script (probably a very stupid thing to say). He mentioned something about trying to get me off klonopin eventually and taking Seroquel instead (WTF?). Last night I took 50mg of Seroquel and have felt pretty "out of it" all day. Is Seroquel even any good for anxiety? I couldn't find much evidence online indicating that it was.

NOPE...

Your doctor although concerned is an asswipe for doing this to you.

Seroquel has a higher chance of creating anxiety than taking it away...

seroquel is an antipsychotic drug that some doctors like to prescribe for all kinds of off label applications, who knows why, personally, i wouldn't suggest that someone take antipsychotics unless they are actually suffering from schizophrenia. taking the seroquel isn't going to do anything nice for you. i think that the doctor is just being vindictive.

Its very good for eliminating anxiety, as well as personality, ambition, and thought. Its a very heavy sedative and you will realize its not for you very quickly. I keep some around in case I have a manic episode and can't sleep well for days. He should have gave you Vistoril, Neurontin, Librium or something like that. I can't function on low doses of it yet I can take MASSIVE benzo and opiate doses.

Actually seroquel is supposed to be really good for generalized anxiety disorder, probably better than ssris. It comes with side effects I coujldnt talk, or I'd probably be on it.

sero doesnt do jackshit for anxiety. I dont kknow when people will realize that the best substances for anxiety are benzos. Not ssri's,not antipsychotics. I agree thats its pretty sedative though. But sometimes i would eat up to 300 mg and couldnt sleep, i had paradoxal effects i think from it. ANyways OP if i were you id switch doctors and tell the current one to go fuck himself, also NEVER mention susbtance abuse to a doctor, you are guarantee to have shit medication prescribed instead of the good ones. THe only time i told a doctor i abused abit my xanax he prescribed me atarax (hydroxyzine) and told me to buy valerian for an anxiety condition that i was having a panic attack every 5 min for a week. I hope SSRI'S cease to exist and that antipsychtoics would be prescribed only to people who are PSYCHOTIC, not anxious.

Seroquel has the potential to move a person from pre-diabetic to type 2 diabetes. My gp prescribed 100 mg for sleep. Later at an appt. with my addiction dr. I told him about my new scripts ,tagamet and seroquel. He informed me of the dangers. It is def not a benign drug. Off-label uses, though well intentioned, have the capacity for harm.
