im going to start by saying this does relate to bodybuilding because i started to experience this problem after i started going to the gym for the 1st time and im assuming its the cause some how. recently i have been getting red rashes and really itchy at the gym and after. i get home and take a shower and it goes away but as soon as i get into bed i get this crazy itch that doesnt let me sleep. i toss and turn till eventually i go to the bathroom, splash rubbing alcohol all over myself and it gives me enough relief from the itching to let me sleep. i have washed everything in my room and still it continues, maybe its bugs? maybe an infection or dry skin? ive googled for answers for a week now and still no help.

could be something you picked up from the gym and brought home with ya. germs, bacteria, cleaning products, etc from the gym could be causing the reaction. maybe try an anti histamine like benadryl to rule out allergic reactions. I know some people get stressed related histamine reactions too so the stress from the gym doing intense training could be the cause

It sounds like Exercise urticaria. It's basically an allergic reaction to exercise caused by sweating.

Try taking a low dose anti-histamine before the gym like Serotonin suggested to rule that out.

Be sure to wipe down your equipment before and after using it in the gym.

It sounds like it might be something off your towel. Say someone with a skin disease has put his towel down on the bench inthe changing room. You come in after he has left and out your towel in the same moist place?

Probably best to see a doctor though.

Almost 20 years ago I picked up a fungal infection in my schools gym. Half my upper body was itchy and red. Doc gave me some cream and it cleared up in a few weeks.

I'm guessing it was a similar fungus to athletes foot but across your upper body instead of your feet? thank god I've only had athletes foot once from a school pool like 8 years ago.

very well could be "ring worm" as it is reffered to in wrestling but its a bacterial infection which causes red ictchy patches. neosporin will help it heal quicker
