Fact or fiction is there such thing as Seratonin Syndrome or seratonin physcosis if so how is it caused? What are the effects?
Is it serious? Please may someone enlighten me, Ive heard people talking about it in Clubs but u hear a lot of opinions and not a lot of facts.

Ehm, you mean "no such thing as serotonin psychosis", right?

'Cause I've had Serotonin Syndrome, wasn't much fun I can tell ya :)

It basically means you have way too much serotonin in your brain, causing a toxic condition:

This disorder, brought on by excessive levels of serotonin, is difficult to distinguish from the neuroleptic malignant syndrome because the symptoms are so similar. The neuroleptic malignant syndrome is a serious condition brought on by the use of the neuroleptic drugs.

The symptoms of the serotonin syndrome are: euphoria, drowsiness, sustained rapid eye movement, overreaction of the reflexes, rapid muscle contraction and relaxation in the ankle causing abnormal movements of the foot, clumsiness, restlessness, feeling drunk and dizzy, muscle contraction and relaxation in the jaw, sweating, intoxication, muscle twitching, rigidity, high body temperature, mental status changes were frequent (including confusion and hypomania - a "happy drunk" state), shivering, diarrhea, loss of consciousness and death. (The Serotonin Syndrome, AM J PSYCHIATRY, June 1991)

I'd just like to add that whoever described the state as "euphoric" in that report must have pretty different body chemistry than me, because "hellish" is the word that I would choose!

There is seratonin syndrome, which is very real, and can happen on e or DXM or with certain types of drug combos.

There is also PSYCHOSIS, but there is no such thing as 'serotonin' psychosis.

But, if you want to read about Serotonin Syndrome:

Read this!

I was mearly pointing out the spelling of Seratonin as opposed to serotonin. Read the link that I put in my post, it's all about serotonin syndrome.

My favourite page on Serotonin Syndrome:here with Dr Ken!!:D Serotonin syndrome is most commonly associated with prescription medicines like anti-depressant's, but can also be caused by MD** and DXM.

Morrison's Lament: euphoria would certainly be one of the earlier symptoms of SS, not the later ones, which would indeed be most uncomfortable, not to mention potentially life threatening.
