Sending Text messeges from you computer, does anyone actually do this?

ive done it a long while ago and have forgoten how ,i have at&t but lost phone ....the person only has texting

if you have a Yahoo email account, you can text through there. log in and where it reads "COMPOSE", click on the drop down arrow and select SMS. i'm not sure if gmail, hotmail, etc offer this service but i'd imagine so.

AIM or other messengers allow this as well. Just put in the number with a + in front and send as an IM.

I've personally never used online text messeging myself, how well does it work. Anyone use em? And other for just an emergency?

I've used it out of sheer laziness before but I'd say its certainly useful in an emergency.

Uh the last time I did this, ATT has a service on their site that let you text message people

But this was years ago

you can usually send a text via email if you know the appropriate domain of the carrier in question. e.g. [email protected] (or whatever).

These are good things to know, as i seem to have terrible luck with messing my phones up.

Could you IMtext a picture to someones phone?

Like right now I cannot send or recieve pictures from my phone. Only texts. Could a text a pic from my computer to someone who CAN send and receive pictures? This could be useful.....
