Possibly stupid question but I was curious...I have read / heard different versions of whether, from a HR perspective*, it is better to inject yourself or to have a drug buddy administer it for you.

Being relatively new to IV use, I know which I prefer as having my much more experienced mate do it for me seems much safer and almost has a extra sociable element to it, but he, for instance, will not even let an experienced user near him (I wouldn't let me do it eitehr if I was him).

From an angle perspective, I would have thought it far preferable to have someone else do it and in my case I am still downright clumsy on drawing the needle so higher chance of slipping out of the vein...But then again some sources seem to say you are better off being able to feel the needle in you and direct it accordingly.

Is this is silly question? I know I have fallen in love with the needle so maybe overanalysing things a tad...

* Acknowledge that from true HR perspective you would not be IVing any drug, especially Ice (methamp)...yada, yada, yada...

The best thing to do when you start out ANY injection technique is to learn how to sterilize before you stick anything in your body.

Only you can find out the dosage right for you, do not let the assisting person guesstimate a dose of anything for you.

Also note, if the person who is assisting you is a dirty grungy person, bring your own needle unless you see him take a fresh on out.

There is nothing wrong with help at all. All users need some form of help in the beginning.
