Has there ever been a report anywhere of any human ever using a selective sigma1 agonist??

I have the opportunity to sample a highly selective sigma1 agonist, and am wondering if I dare take such a chance, what possible risks could be foreseen mental-health wise, and what possible 'effects' could be foreseen from its use?

I cant remember where but I recall reading something of Sigma1 receptors possibly playing a role in alien abductions, posessions, out of body experiences, and other bizarre human phenomenon. Any truth to this?

Yep, the sigma receptor is actually a nanochip implanted by the same aliens that visited the babylonians and have now decided that the United States are their favourite new spot (especially New Mexico, for some reason).

Expect a selective sigma-agonist to trigger a call to the nearest flying saucer... so if you don't plan on being abducted, give it to the people that stand in groups on rooftops with a sign saying "TAKE ME!" and "REMEMBER ME??" ;).

(Please don't take offense, I was just kidding, don't mean to mock you).

I believe all these attributions are taken from the most used (non selective) sigma agonist DXM, which causes experiences that resemble abuctions..etc. Remember though that DXM is much more than a pure sigma agonist.

I'm not sure what happens when you play with sigma alone, but I'd wager it is either unpleasant or nothing much at best.

well ive never been one to use a substance just for the 'pleasantry' but rather the experience, wether it scares me shitless or I find bliss is a moot point and would not change a desire to try.

For example, I knew scopolamine was some nasty stuff, but that didint stop moi from going delerious :)

It seems most drugs that bind to sigma seem to do so at a low affinity relative to the other binding areas. I think its inevitable that some crazy mofo has to try a selective sigma1 agonist to determine wtf that receptor does for 'getting high'... but maybe somone already has!? Doesnt seem that far fetched. The stuffs easy enough to get legally.

So whys no one ever taken the plunge? Wheres all the real psychonauts here??

I think the problem is that not much is known about the opioid system as a whole (well, a lot IS known, but all that is not enough), and so I think it would probably be very hard to synth a ligand that would be sigma-selective...

(+)pentazocine is the classical sigma 1 selective agonist, it's been trialed in schizophrenia, So has Rimcazole, and BMS-181100 (a sigma1 antagonist)..

Check out this review for more info
