Opioids seizure threshold

All I know is tramadol for sure causes seizures particularly when the 400MG limit has been breached . Cant tell you much about the others. sorry. Someone will!

I just suggested, in another thread, that the twitching and spasms the poster felt after two shots, of what I took to be heroin, could be the onset of a seizure.

I know tramadol can cause a seizure as I had one in 2011, scary shit. But I have read somewhere, and I will have to search it out, that higher dosage levels can cause a seizure. Of course it depends on the individual's own unique body chemistry. And by higher dosage levels I am talking about someone who takes their "normal" dosage up a few levels.

Anyway I will see if I can find the article I read that mentioned this. Just don't hold your breath! :-)

Edgewise I made this thread after reading your post on the subject earlier. Please report the findings you are gonna look for. Also if anyone else can shed light on this subject please help out. Thanks.

I don't think so.

Do you mean an epileptic or drug/alcohol related? I see your point due to respiratory depression, and lessening of anxiety, but opiates are cns depressants and don't work like benzos or seizure medications. They can cause seizures, but this is entirely different and non related to stopping seizures.

I thought I heard that opiates such as morphine may lower the seizure threshold, but not enough to cause them on their own. So if you are withdrawing from benzos and at risk for a seizure then taking a high dose of morphine may push you over the edge and attribute to the seizure.

yes all opiates lower the seizure threshold, tramadol should not be fucked with in high doses when combining with any other opiate. however, if you've become tolerant to tramadol and can exceed the daily 400mg "limit" without any signs of a seizure then your risk for seizure in conjunction with other opiates will be decreased. obviously this only pertains to people that partake in tramadol consumption, and from my understanding there aren't that many, which is a good thing IMO.

Also I've heard of people seizing up AFTER tramadol use/abuse during detox . '

on another note = Lack of oxygen to the brain in general can cause seizures .

I haven't heard of opiates by themselves causing seizures but I am epileptic(I have Grand Mal seizures)and have had severe heroin withdrawls trigger seizures.Even a moderate level of WDs can do this.I would imagine it comes from the stress WDs put on your whole system.I hope this helps your study and is the kind of information you're looking for.

Being a hypochondriac and with this new idea i have in my head, for once my hypochondria might be beneficial, ie keeping my dosage at a reasonable level lol. And this of course is if it is true high doses of opiates can cause seizures. Haven't gotten a concrete answer yet
