Hi everyone,

My name is Jason, and I am studying at Minot State University. I am conducting a research study on various attitudes and people’s life experiences (such as experiences with psychedelic use). This study is being conducted through Minot State University and has received approval from Minot State University’s Institutional Review Board (Protocol Number: 2418).

This study begins on February 10, 2024 and will complete on September 16, 2024. Eligible participants should be at least 18 years of age and be proficient in reading and writing English. Anyone who meets these criteria are eligible to participate whether or not they have used psychedelics. This study may take between 45 and 60 minutes to complete.

Filled out. research location was just a hop, skip & jump from where I lived/worked. The departments in which I worked def. Collaborated with other departments from Minot State University, so I felt it was my responsibility to answer.

We used to go there on weekend beer runs, so quite familiar with the town/area. Quite nice, lots of guns (which, as a Canadian, freaked me the fuck out, esp. people carrying shotguns/rifles over shoulder in a mall at 6:30am heading towards a gun show).

Whole state of North Dakota was my playground when younger.

It should be paid compensation. Time is money. ")
It's actually quite tricky to pay people and also do an anonymous survey.
Alternatively the survey can collect people's contact details but then it can potentially end up retaining information that is identifying.
Also there are A LOT of survey bots at the moment run by click farms that give bogus data to get the payments of paid studies.
It's a tricky space.
My thought is that if it's a short amount of time and only online (you can do it from your home) then individual payments is fraught due to the bots issue, as well as the inconvenience being pretty low and another motivation being you want to contribute your experience to knowledge/science/research etc.
But I get it - there are now a lot of companies running paid surveys for micro payments and everyone is getting more expectant of similar from research.
Except the companies doing that (I tried it!) want ALL your identification including your bank account, to verify that you are a separate/unique person living in the right country/territory/state/province etc.
Fine for market research about consumer products, not so good when you are asking questions about illegal behaviour.
I wish I knew the right answer or the sweet spot here :)
(One answer is pay in cryptocurrency, but most people don't have that set up so it does very much limit your sampling frame)
