I did searches on this site looking for reference to data I came across a year or 2 ago. It was data from a us gov't study/research/whatever that showed that states where mj was either decrim'ed and/or med mj was legalized had a DECLINE in the % of teens/youth using mj?

Of course the gov't didn't 'put the results out there' but evidence from the us gov't's own research revealed that this in fact was the case. The % of decline was not drastic or significant, but it existed and as many of us here probably intuitively understand, when something is 'forbidden' there is a certain alllure to it. Like in certain countries where the drinking age is like 14 or something and the % of alcoholism in the population is way lower than in the us with a drinking age of 21. Grow up where it's normal to have a glass of wine at dinner and there is no excitement about sneaking off with your friends and getting drunk in the woods or whatever.

I've done a little googling and haven't been able to locate a link to the study. I forget where I came across it initially but am hoping someone here knows of the study/research done by good ol uncle sam himself where the results completely contradict what his drug warriors routinely spit as supposed fact when it's propaganda, fear mongering, etc.

I'd like to have that link because I think it's an effective tool in pursuading people sheepish enough to believe what the us gubament propaganda machine spits out. I've been for ending drug prohibition for 25+ years and occasionally get into discussions with others at work and like to be able to reference data/sources that are hard for the propagandized to dismiss. Like LEAP, www.leap.cc or Law Enforcement Against Prohibition.

It's easy for the brainwashed to dismiss individuals making statements/arguments that go against the propaganda because of the enormous ammt of propaganda they have been exposed to over and over, year in and year out... it becomes 'fact' in their minds even though it is propagandized nonsense.

I'm hoping someone knows of this study and can post a link that references it so I/we can have it in our toolbox to use to dispute the bs. I'm a dinasour compared to most of you guys, I was smoking weed when there were only 5 people in the usa legally allowed to use mj for medical reasons and when police would raid the homes of individuals with aids wasting syndrome, ms and in wheelchairs, riddled with cancer with only months to live... and growing like 15 plants in their homes and bust down their doors and arrest them. This was back in the late 70's and/or early/mid 80's.

So let's not forget how far we have come either folks. It's a war for sure, a war of the gov't vs. the citizens. And the citizens are making headway. It's getting harder and harder for a politician to be taken serious when they speak of the 'dangers of marijuana', etc. Eventually they will be laughed at. Might not be in my lifetime but that day will come, it's inevitable (I know my spelling sucks ass, sorry). Reefer Madness and the way drug users were displayed on the tv show Dragnet used to be taken serously.

A critical mass is forming. Older folks are even for leaving pot smokers alone now, like people in their 50's and 60's. This was basically unheard of back 20-30 yrs ago (I exaggerate to make points sometimes).

Anyway, I'd love a link to that research if anyone has it.
Thanks

Give me some hit words. I have access to EBSCOhost, PSYCINFO, and PSYCDATBASE.

I tried searching for "cannabis" + "teen" in title, and "marijuana" and "teen" in title. Came up with some interesting results, but nothing that really hit the nail on the head for what you're looking for. I know I've read many in the past.

I only know of one or two public access medical log search engines:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez
pubmed and NCBI search collapses, etc
