Thanks for your reply Lysis.
It's given me alot to think about; from your post I'd assume your a website owner.
The difference between Adword search vs. an organic search, the latter is unfamiliar to me.
Google has Advertising, the advertising seems to be targeted to an individuals search history and interests that span Google apps. I'm unsure of what an organic search is.
It's a sad state of affairs if other smaller companies revert to trawling other search engine bot's to fill their own database.
My only gripe is that through many years of using Google dot com, there are many websites that used to be contained and easily found within the context; but now are history or bookmarked.
I haven't had personalized Google results since about I noticed that it started happening. Firefox with Disconnect, uBlock (AdBlockEdge back then, it was much better than AdBlock+ when that one started to whitelist some ads),NoScript (this one is really for geeks I guess, it's not that hard to get it to work, and slowly make sites that connect to 56 sites when connecting to it and if really paranoid, RequestPolicy, but that one at the same time as NoScript is ridiculous and I say, use one or the other if you're going to take control of that browser. Of course all this takes into consideration that you do not have your browser in some kind of Sandbox environment. When I am in Windows 7 x64 ultimate (I only keep it to game games that don't play well in Linux even when emulated with stuff better than wine like the closed-source CrossOver, I got version 13.2 and it does 70% of games), I got that Firefox behind a program called Sandboxie which isolates one's browsing from one's computer in a bunch of manners, kinda like running win7 in a VM, which is even more secure.
. I prefer an iptables firewall based on some paylist that's updated constantly since the year 2000, it used to be free, but some argument between the analysts caused a rift and, well, I'm not gonna name it, but 25 euro a year for something that's updated every week at least, is better than an antivirus suite, even high quality ones, because you have to still give it rules regarding connections, and I don't pretend nor would have the time to do what these people do. That and blocking entire nations, no racism, just the fact that a lot of unwanted connections happen often from certain sites. And it makes torrenting safer too, much much safer. With that list, a vpn is optional for most people living in a country where outrage about downloading isn't present (it's not in Canada, and that 2005 ruling that sharing mp3's by the Supreme Court was legal was pretty neat).
If you know what you're doing, you can be very hard to get content from, and that's just some ideas how to do so, that do not involve tor or vpn's (vpn's are superior, but I won't go into that. At least now anyway, google allows one to basically get the ol' not-so-pêrsonalized google, but you gotta tell them you want it to be like that. Which imo is okay, but it's really cool to have a virgin internet connection's google results, even if one does not use google much, sometimes its necessary, the most annoying reason for me is that I do record myself (I don't show my face cause I don't wanna be a rock star) covering, with solos, songs from the like of Possessed, Slayer, Sacrifice, Propagandhi, etc. on guitar, if I could, I'd drop everything and just be in a serious touring band, but yeah, I do my internet whoring too, but it's to find people who like my kind of music, I was born a bit too late unfortunately. The closest to anything serious, angry, political at times, thrashcore/crossover is a guy who is like me, but who plays everything, can't play drums for shit, and I got trouble with bass so nah. But that doesn't matter.
Sorry for bumping this old thing, but somebody said there was a thread about duckduckgo and tracking recently and God approved results (Google of course) didn't give me anything more recent than this.
