SeaGlass Anyone? Part II

I love collecting sea glass and the idea that someones once garbage is now something I cherish. They dumped it into the ocean and the ocean spat it back out as a gem.

Also Ocean I was originally from NEPA. I hope you're liking that dreadful place because I hated it. I used to live by the coast in NJ but we moved down to central FL. It is still killing me being away from the beach. How are you doing so far?

Missing it like crazy!
I miss almost everything about Washington and REALLY miss hearing the waves as I fall asleep, sitting out and watching the sunset behind Vancover Island, hearing the seagulls, collecting bags of rocks and of course (since this IS the sea glass thread;) ) those little bursts of excitement when I'd happen across a piece of sea glass :(
Awww...I miss it. :D
 
^ This would be so much cooler than a Sea Glass Convention. I sense there would be an aroma of pot smoke.
 
Hey girls, guys! Any new sea glass photos for us, something strange you've found since the last time we were chatting it up in here? I cant believe it's been over two years since we were here...
 
I don't have any new photos but did find a new beach very near me that used to be a dump. It's bizarre because they built a seawall and most of the crockery and glass has not been water tumbled but has been dry sand rubbed for 50 years or more. Big really interesting pieces but I guess not technically sea glass.

Sounds like sea glass to me if you're finding it by the ocean.

I haven't gone on a sea glass hunt in years at this point. I did find a beautiful pink/purple piece a couple of years ago after deviating a lot farther from the group who were done hunting and wanted to leave for food by then. The extra quarter mile walk by myself was worth it when I found that gem.

Gawd I miss the hunt :(

The best place I have to go to-there are plans to have a sea wall built there in the very near future. Stinks that they plan these things for sacred spots on our beaches :( I have to make sure I get out there a few more times before it changes...
 
Will the sea wall eliminate all of the beach spot though?

Perhaps the construction is going to mix up and unearth some good finds.

That's possible. What I was thinking was that the beach on the water-side of the sea wall will be inaccessible; which is where all the goods will be. But hopefully at low tide, I can make my way around it somehow. I hope. And If they do happen to unearth some good stuff, here's hoping they don't strip what's left of the treasures.
 
I was a bit bored so decided to poke my nose into SO as I knew I'd find something interesting.. and am fascinated to find out that people collect sea glass, and that it's sometimes so old. I've always admired it from afar and we do see a lot of it on our UK beaches. Twas lovely to see the photos of your collections. :)
 
So glad to have you-enjoy your stay. Sea glass collecting is a wonderful hobby, if you are lucky enough to live near a spot, and know where it is.
