hey guys, the title says it all. i am very scared that my brain is damaged. i am not being paranoid or anything. i am only 14, i've smoked everyday in the last summer(mids) then during the school year(started in august) i smoked almost every day for about 15 weeks(kush) . i stopped for like a month after that because i got in trouble then i started back up again. ever since then i have been smoking kush. there is something wrong. whenever i am sober, walking home from school or whatever i will look at something like a cloud and i will see these little strings of color , not covering the cloud just there. also i will look up and there will be like a black dot followed by those little strings of colors. i made a thread a few weeks ago and told u guys that when i walk home.. i have this clicking in the back of my head. that specific part of my head is the occipital lobe. The occipital lobes are positioned at the back region of the cerebral cortex and are the main centers for visual processing. it would stop clicking when i stopped being paranoid and stopped worrying about it, but that obviously isnt the factor anymore. i am too scared to tell my mom or any doctors. have any advice for me? any would be aprreciated. and please dont just say "quit smoking" because im already going to do that

How long have you been off of it now? I'll be the first to admit that I'm not well educated on the neurological side effects of marijuana, but the fact that you're 14 years old and consuming copious amounts of a psychedelic (no matter how mild it is) is probably a large factor.

It sounds really odd, I have never heard of anything even remotely similiar happening with cannabis. Perhaps it could be something unrelated? I don't want to scare you or anything but maybe even a tumor? Beginning of epilepsy? Seeing things like coloured dots could be epilepsy/seizure related as far as I know.

well i gues it can damage me since im only 14. i doubt i have any of those cases.. but whenever i was pretty high, i could pretty much feel where all of the blood or thc was at. like if i was thinking of m spine, it would go there and my whole body would go numb, just the different parts of the brain were all different.

Of course it can damage you at such a young age. Smoking potent forms of cannabis at your age is really dangerous as your brain is still very much developing.

You obviously have realised most of that tho, the thing to do would be try and stop smoking weed totally untill you are at least 16, 17 or preferably 18 +, who knows if you will have life long issues from this, but the brain is a remarkable organ and hopefully it will not have lasting effects for you for the rest of your life.

Here's some reading for you-

Better to tell someone in get in a little trouble then not tell someone and end up making a possible medical problem worse.

Stop smoking weed altogether for at least a couple weeks if it doesn't go away by then your best bet would be to tell someone about it.

I think your first step is to stop smoking pot for at least a few months and then see what changes happen. It really depends on the individual, but on the whole I'm not sure if smoking so heavily before the age of 16 is a good idea.

Visual distortions like what you describe can be caused by many things. I would not jump to the conclusion that it's cannabis or brain damage. I've looked at clouds before on a bright day and seen different colours coming out of them. For all you know it's some kind of light refraction, or it's just the way your brain builds associations.

The black dots and strings... you'd need to rule out floaters in your eyes. If they are floaters, then they are normal. Everyone has them to some degree. Smokers have them more, as do people who are dehydrated.

Are there any other kinds of visual distortions happening in your life, or just when you look at the sky? If you aren't seeing random shit everywhere then I think you are over-reacting.

As for the clicking, those are your neck bones, not something in your brain. You likely have a neck misalignment that a simple cracking (from a professional) would fix. The occipital bone rests on the atlas bone (C1), and any upper cervical misalignment can be felt in the occipital. See a chiropractor for more information.

A misalignment of your cervical spine or occiptal bone should not affect your vision. Your brain stem is more directly related to that area, and that controls breathing, heart rate, balance, etc. You'd notice changes in those if there was major trauma, not simply vision when you look at the sky.

What's obvious to me though is that pot has made you paranoid, which means you should quit.

<SNIP> Lets use some maturity- Neko BUT you should quit while ur ahead all this drug ish leads down a bad road and most likely youll end up on losing end!

Top knotch advice here. Only you def need to stop smoking for a few years atleast IMO. 14 it wayyyyy too young for that kind of regular smoking, even though I did first try weed at 13, i only smoked like once or twice before highschool. And didnt become a daily smoker till 17 or 18. And when I was like 14 and 15 we could only get generic high grade which we called crypie in florida. But there were no named strains unless you were growing them, and florida has great bud for the east coast. Bud now is much stronger though in terms of high grade, and your brain is not meant to handle that much thc.

But honestly the only thing I think you suffer from Kringeify is paranoia. And I know you prolly think we all sound crazy because you suddenly have all these symptoms that you have never noticed until you started getting high alot. But weed has this amazing power to amplify certain powers of observation, you start to notice things while stoned that you never noticed before which many people find very enjoyable. I personally love this because I am an artist, and when i get high its like I suddenly notice how beautiful the branches are outside my window and how they would make a lovely painting...or how the shadows from some buildings create a perfect composition. But this amplified senses can also make you notice things that are negative too..like sometimes when i am baked and I go to the bathroom I will suddenly notice how badly I need to wash my face cause I'm breaking out...or how my leg is just a bit sore....

But just cause you notice something you did not notice before you got high does not mean there is a direct cause and effect. I think this is whats going on with the little "orbs" you are seeing as I call them. Or floaters. They are things that naturally occur in your eye...its nothing to fret over at all. The neck thing is just your spine popping most likely due to tension from you being worried about shit.

I hope you really do quit smoking this time, and do NOT expect yourself to get better in a few days or even a few weeks. In will take about 30 days for the THC to even leave your system, you need to give it a rest for a few years until your brain is more developed.

Listen man, cannabis can definitly cause some issues when used young - I think the WORST it can do is almost stunt/delay you mentally at a specific age/maturity level. I think this has happened to many people using cannabis when they are young. I do not think this is NESSICARILY an issue - possibly in our society however it may be.

I would suggest laying off of it, or continuing it - but only if you can accept that smoking it WILL cause visual effects and it is NOT brain damage. It is a mild psychedelic and this is normal.

THC has quite a long halflife, and stays active and in your system for a while - especially in the days proceeding. Even nowadays, when I smoke, I have mild effects/side effects the entire next day, maybe 2.

ALSO: stop believing you can "tell" whats going on in your brain/body! YOU CANNOT! Even the doctors cannot, much less a 14 year old kid. As a SPECIES I believe we have a very poor understanding of the human brain. The human brain cannot understand the human brain. So stop trying - it will just lead you into hypochondia and paranoia.

You're 14. Don't do any damn drugs until you're 17 or 18 or something. But as that has already been said, if you feel there is something wrong with your head or visuals keep persisting and you don't feel right, yeah go to a doctor.
You won't get into any legal trouble ofc.

Do not go to a doctor. They will take advantage of you and put you on a bunch of terrible, dysphoric, pharmaceutical drugs that you do not need.

No offense, Magic, but I feel like a physician (especially Kringeify's primary care) would be in a much better position to make that call. I understand the distrust of doctors in general (especially as a habitual drug user) but it's hard to deny the fact that if something's wrong with your body and you haven't a clue what's going on then a practicing physician is one of the best places for a person to go to get some legitimate help.

There is a chance of getting fucker over, but there's an even greater chance at obtaining medical relief (not necessarily medication) when you have to visit the doctor while you're sick or in pain.

You recommended he see a psychiatrist. This is a terrible idea. The kid got paranoid from smoking pot, if he goes to a doctor and explains he is seeing shit - that is NORMAL for marijuana - they will put him on toxins.

The kid is fine. You really think something is wrong with him becaues he thinks he understands that a specific part of his brain is fucked up because he heard a clicking sound?

I've had similar effects. When I put my hands into my pocket I have electric numbing sensations that trickle up to my elbow. When I wiggle my toes, the nerve endings in my calves tingle. This all stems from an intense body high I had as a kid. The effects lessen as your sobriety lengthens. You seem like a bright young man; I wish I could give you advice. I'm gonna dig a little bit for peer reviewed scientific literature on the mechanism of action of thc. I'll link you up anything of interest pertaining to our curious side effects

I've never read evidence that says cannabis causes long-term peripheral nerve numbing of the variety you're talking about. Arm numbing has to do with your neck vertebrae, and lower leg numbing has to do with the lumbar spine.

How do you guys spend most of your time? Sitting at a computer? It sounds like you need to exercise and stop smoking weed.

I didn't recommend anything other than refraining from giving medical advice to a person you don't know over the internet. It's irresponsible at the least and can be outright dangerous. [EDIT: Speculation doesn't hurt, but if a person's legitimately concerned I feel like nobody on BL is in a position to tell them not to seek help.] I specifically mentioned Kringeify's primary care physician to make the point that the doctor that's followed a person's health over an extended period of time would be in a better position to diagnose than one in a clinic that you don't know, have never seen or spoken to before the visit and is extremely overworked-- the intent was not to tell Kringeify to see a doctor, I was merely using the subject matter of the thread we're having this discussion in to keep the topic relevant to the original post. I see where it might seem like I had implied differently, though.

Your fine stay away from harder drugs, if your that young able to find MJ on the regular you will probably encounter other things be smart and use this for future choices, your not brain dead from mj it doesn't matter how young you are, there was a church in Florida smoking up 6 year olds harder than any of us a couple decades back.

14 years old. Wow. Wait until you're at least 16, you're body is (was) still developing at a very fast rate, and smoking weed can really damage your body and mind at that age.

Stop smoking until you're at an older age, and seek medical help if you feel you need to. Smoking at an age like that is a very risky behavior that can bring out underlying mental disorders, cause lung cancer, cause addiction, and even kill you.

This may be just me, but I'm 19, and when I smoke once I feel slightly forgetful for a few days, even if I really don't smoke much. I can't imagine what this must be doing to you. ._.
