i dont know if this thread has been done before but....

when i was 17 i used to cut a little bit.... at any rate i am now 23 and i still have the scars on my arms..... I know this is a pretty common issue and mine are not nearly as bad as some peoples but I still feel so much embarrasment....

I would really like to permanently make these scars disappear (they are horizontal lines so i feel like they are so obvious)

1. I tried that scar ointment for a while..... it really hasnt done much

So I know tattoos are one way to go but i am not sure i want to do a big lower arm tatt right now.... is there any other methods you guys know of that have worked....
Should i ask a dermatologist or look into seeing a plastic surgeon at this point (yes i am that bothered)

vitamin e supposedly works well. it helped to fade my track mark and works for stretch marks too. find the gel cap oral supplement for it and get the gel out and rub it on the scars. its cheaper than the ointment.

You have better results treating topically when they are still pretty fresh. When I had an accident, I had two gashes on my forehead. The doctor said use pure aloe and it seemed to help them fade. Four years later, they're more noticeable than ever. I want to go back to the haircut with bangs, it makes me so self conscious. But see a dermatologist, they may have treatments that can help..Plastic surgery for sure but that could get expensive. Insurance wouldn't consider it "medically necessary" most times.

I know how you feel, like everyone can see it. Try not to stress about it too much. I call them battle scars. lol
When's the baby due? Once he comes, you'll be too busy to worry for real! ~hugs <3

this worked for my tracks too.... pretty much gone

but these scars are much older and i am not seeing much improvement with cocoa butter, vitamin e lotions, or mederma

I got the mederma too but it didn't work so well. Maybe because I didn't apply it four times a day or perhaps it was too late.
The scars are very noticable to you but probably not many people see them. At least you can wear long sleeves.
My face can't really be covered up. One thing a dermatologist told me is stay out of the sun! The sun's rays will make the scars darker.

Keeping skin moisturized is good for maintaining its health and elasticity, so just use natural moisturizers as much as you can. With time they will fade as you regenerate skin cells and the old ones fall off.

Natural moisturizers:
- coconut oil
- shea butter
- olive oil
- aloe
- vitamin e oil

people also tend to agree that it takes many months if not years for changes to be noticable, so dont give up if you think natural moisturizers are doing nothing.

hi, i used to cut on and off for about 7 years. i have those scars that are raised, not red, but raised and very noticeable..especially in the summer when i get a bit tan. if your scars are the reddish kind just used vitamin e oil..and time will heal. if you have raised scars like mine there is pretty much nothing you can do, even if you try to cover with a tattoo..it will not work because the skin is raised. mine are all over both sides of my arms and i dont care anymore i wear tshirts all the time..if someone brings them up in convo i ignore the subject , or tell them to mind their own fing business. xox

I've used castor oil mixed with vitamin E for scars successfully... but keloid scars or raised scars are difficult.

I was wondering about Bio oil because about five years ago my psycho ex-bf stabbed/cut my right arm during a bad break up. And I just want to rid the memories of my past My scar is raised. Is there any hope?

I am currently using Bio Oil for old stretch marks and old scars and it seems to be working (month 2) but if yours is raised it might take some time before you see the results.
