My doctor has recommended me try this SNRI to alleviate neuropathic pain as well as a depressive disorder. Anyone have any experience with it? I'm not interested in hearing how duloxetine, gabapentin or pregabalin are better so don't even bother. Anyone achieve notable results with this newer drug?

I was personally told that it is a new drug which has been showing good results for working with the pains, lack of energy, and depression caused by fibromyalgia. So... I don't know what your personal situation is, but that's just what I was told on it.

Thanks. I'm hearing similar stories. I am currently taking paroxetine which helps with the depression but also suffer from nerve pains in my lower extremities. My issue with switching medications has been limited to my lack of insurance but am now covered by Medicare Part D as of yesterday. So, this opens up doors to trying newer medications that do not have a generic counterpart. My doctor told me that Savella doesn't have quite the affinity for seratonin as SSRIs. I'm assuming I can supplement that with 5-HTP but only if my doctor offers the same advice. I'm going to see him next Friday to discuss the switch if pregabalin doesn't offer some relief...

I just started taking Savella 4 days ago. I'm on the titration packet. It was given to me for chronic headaches. I am also on Paxil and when I brought up the possibility of Seratonin syndrome to my Dr (because of taking the 2 together) he said not to worry...He's had patients on most of the SSRI's taking Savella at the same time without any problems. The headache clinic I went to is in Chicago and is considered one of the best in the world, so I trust this guy.

So far, I have a little anxiety, some bloating and gas and chills...I'm told those side effects will go away with time. He gave this to me for headaches because I have chronic headaches due to scar tissue on the brain from an injury years ago. I've been on every preventative medication out there, and none have worked. We'll see if this one works.

PM me if you have further questions.
