Saudi Arabia is preparing to behead and crucify a 21-year-old activist

The USA's best friend in the region is at it again.

USA's best friend? I think the UK looks to be the most friendly with them, considering facts such as the flying of the flag at half mast for the death of King Abdullah and the above referenced vote trading between the two to get Saudi Arabia on the UNHRC...

executions in 2014 (source):

china: unknown (estimated to be in the '000s)
iran: 289+
saudi arabia: 90+
iraq: 61+
us: 35

the u.s. number is encouraging because it's dropping but, yeah: china; iran; saudi arabia; and iraq. that's a list we really want to be on :\

alasdair

Might be worth mentioning that those crazy Russians haven't executed someone in nearly 20 years. (source>google)

Crazy how high the numbers are, I like to think we live in a civilized world. The reality is a dream, we don't. :\

I'm just saying if I lived in Saudi Arabia I'd be a good lil' Muslim. The mere thought of going to a protest would make me fearful, so much so I'd piss my pants.

Agreed, that's what most people in countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, the UAE, etc. are like.

I went to university with students from these countries and they said how their families were wealthy but how they did not have nearly as much freedom in their country of origin as they did here in the United States, and that in the United States they could do things like drive a car, go out to a restaurant with friends, date whoever they wanted, or go wherever they wanted to at any time, and it was not like this in the countries they were from. These were men who said this too, not only women.

Time to send them a message and boycott their oil.

And at the same time we could boycott Chinese electronic equipment (their top export), their plastics (7th top export but we get environmental points) and, er, their knitting and crochet (4th top export).

I agree on China too for their ongoing dual genocides against the Tibetan people, their lack of personal freedoms, and the Huigar Turks as well as for their use of slave and child labor to manufacture said electronics. We have the first Clintons' Administration to thank for choosing China as the "most favored trading partner" for encouraging that situation.

Such a tolerant and progressive country, we westerners should definitely acknowledge how humane and enlightened certain islamic countries are nowadays. We could definitely learn something from them.

^ I guess your forgetting that it wasn't that long ago that we ha such practices as well. Such as breaking someone on the wheel and other horrible methods of torturing and killing people. They only still practice this because their western friendly government is allowed to function as a totalitarian state. Also what they are doing has nothing to do with Islam at all.

The fact that you have a sickle and a hammer as a profile pic, makes all of your arguments invalid. Your guilt rhetoric and apologetics doesn't work. Sorry...

Hahahahahahaha yeah sure mate.

Quran 5:33 "The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger ... will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom."

Quran 8: 12 "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"

Hahahahahahaha yeah sure mate, Islam is such a tolerant and forgiving religion isn't it?

Truly, I cringe every time I see that, because of the things a close confidante of mine has shared with me about his time in Soviet Russia.

the fact that executions will continue proves that it doesn't work, w/e it is they are trying to achieve.

the kid didn't even do anything wrong, maybe disrespect his government when he was a kid?? Saudi Arabia are pretty fucked up, not just b.c of their murders committed

there is a reason Russia are steeping into The Middle East, before some of the Middle East destroy the rest of EU too.

OT:

The hammer and sickle was created by the USSR, but it's still used today and is not solely representative of the former union. Infact most organizations that still carry the symbol divorced themselves from Stalinist ideals around the same time the Soviet Union did. I don't use it personally though, because ordinary people still relate it to the gulags and Stalin.

^don't really care, it wasn't only Stalin who committed atrocities in the name of communism.
Have you ever heard of Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot, Tito, Honecker?

In my country the communists were responsible for numerous murders and terrorist attacks between 1970-1980. So it doesn't relate only to countries which have had a communist government.
