I would like to know if safrole is found in the sassafras in my local area. Three shops sell sassafras near, but none of the employees know about its safrole presence. How would one know if it contains safrole?

Welcome to Bluelight. Please read the rules before future posting. SWIM is not allowed. Everyone knows its you and if you pull that in a thread, people will likely jump on you for using it.
what product contains sassafras. Is it tree bark, root, powder? I would try to identify the product by searching images and going from there.
Hopefully another Bluelighter has more experience in this area and can chime in.
I think I may be violating the rules about verifying substances or getting close.
All I can say is investigate the product.
Again, Welcome.

I will be buying tree bark. Is there a test kit or someone who can somehow identify the safrole content?

There is no way to know the content of any plant as far it's constituents without a very expensive bioassay I would imagine. Most things are going to be estimates if anything "these parts likely have (x)% but sometimes 0" because they are plants and it varies. My guess is any sassafras has safrole in it as it exists in nature.

If you are talking about extracts then they are most likely 0% to keep with regulations, that's not to say you can't find it but it's most like 1oz or you need a license or contact the DEA.

Closed because it is not a science as to the percentage of natural compounds in a plant. No one can tell you the amount of safrol in a substance without taking it to a lab and paying a premium.

Erowid or some other website will contain information about the percentage of safrol in different parts of plants on average but my guess is the only way to know for sure is steam distillation :)
